    NY rinks

Im in town for travel for a few months and im trying to play some adult pick-up roller hockey. Im currently staying in fishkill, which is part of the huddson valley. Are there any rinks near here where I can play some good pick-up hockey? Thanks for any help.

    Any hockey near by

Im staying in the hudson valley area of NY for the next few months if not indefintely. I know there is plenty of competition in NY but I dont know where the rinks are. Ive looked online and havent been able to find much. Anyone know where the closest PIHA team is from here id like to try to practice with some of the minor league guys, I know a lot of teams have already had tryouts. Thanks for any help.

From where you are, you're actually the same distance from the three facilities I think are closest to you. All are about 90 mins away.

    - Z-Rink (Glastonbury, CT)
    - Center Circle (Rahway, NJ)
    - Ice Box (Scranton, PA)

A rink in Albany used to switch over one of their sheets of ice (BIG Arena I think) but I'm not sure if they do that anymore in the summer. There might be an outdoor or concrete rink somewhere closer, but I'm fairly certain that's as close as you're going to get for SportCourt.

The lack of rinks in that area of NY is probably why you haven't been getting many responses on here.

All PIHA teams play on indoor tile surfaces.

burke is right. there is no where for albany to practice. we dont at all actually just play the regular season games. i heard union college (schenectady) changes their rink to roller in the summer but it may be done already.

edit: actually there is an outdoor rink in collins park in schenectady. real bad surface though, some parking lots are better.

Ive always played on sport court before, not a big fan of outdoor at all, but its all ive found near by. I know PIHA plays on sportcourt. AL Monica are you in charge of the PIHA team out of Albany, or know someone I can contact. If so id like to try to play with you guys sometime or tryout if theres any oppurtunity. I played MLRH for the Md crush last year. Now I know everyone will bash me for that but id like to get involved in PIHA also and there talking about moving me up here permantely for work so it sounds like ill be around for a while. thisisjustin just message me if you wanna play sometime im new to the area.

For the guy in fishkill, as far as outdoor rinks are u have Monroe, washingtonville and East Fishkill all are located within a half hour of u. For the nearest rink that has a piha team that would be ISCA home of the Grizzlies. www.iscahockey.com. and idk if u play ice to but u have ice time in newburgh and the brewster ice arena. gl man

The Zrink in Glastonbury is a bit less then 2 hrs from albany. The Fireants are holding tryouts this weekend and are still looking to fill a few spots. Check the PIHA site for details.

    Re: NY rinks

So al monica are you saying you play for the suny albany, are there any spots open on that team since you are the nearest team. Also I saw the blaze, fire ants, and the grizzlies are all holding tryouts this weekend, all are within driving distance. Does anyone know which team has the most spots open. I really want to find a team to play for in this area but dont want to go tryout at the wrong one if the teams are already picked. Thanks for any help.
