The 2007 Team Alberta (18U) and Canada West Cup (15U) Tryouts Are Coming Soon!
My participation in the Team Alberta program, right from the start of the selection camp to making the team to the actual tournament itself, was simply an outstanding experience. I found it gave me a chance to play inline hockey at a whole new level with and against some of the best players around.

Hockey Alberta In Line (HAIL) is pleased to announce that the 2007 Team Alberta Selection Camp and the identification camp for the 3rd Canada West Cup will take place at the Dawe Centre in Red Deer, Alberta, June 1-3.
Canada West Cup
The Canada West Cup identification camp, team training and the tournament competition itself is the second stage in the identification process in the Team Alberta program of excellence, following the Alberta Summer Games. The Canada West Cup is held in opposite years to the Alberta Summer Games. The first two Canada West Cup tournaments were held in 2003 and 2005.
All players (male and female) living in Alberta that were born in the years 1991, 1992 and 1993, regardless of their national affiliation, are eligible to tryout. In other words, the identification camp is completely open.
The identification camp will consist of five floor sessions (i.e., two skill analysis sessions and three controlled scrimmages). You must attend at least three of the five floor sessions to be eligible for selection to the Canada West Cup program. Participants will be placed on teams for the weekend and will receive top-notch instruction from some of HAIL?s most experienced high performance program coaches. All of the controlled scrimmages will be officiated by HAIL certified referees. Each player attending the camp will receive a Canada West Cup Identification Camp jersey. The whole weekend promises to have a tournament-like atmosphere to it.
The coaching staffs selected for the Canada West Cup along with other evaluators will rank the players attending the camp. At the conclusion of the camp, the top 36 players and 6 goalies will be drafted onto three teams to compete in the Canada West Cup tournament against Team British Columbia and Team Manitoba.
The Canada West Cup Identification Camp is more than just another tryout, it?s an experience. Players should view the camp as a great chance to improve upon their individual skill levels.
The Canada West Cup tournament will take place July 20-22 at Millennium Place in Sherwood Park. The competition itself will consist of a one-day development camp on July 19 followed by three days of round-robin play and two medal games plus a skills competition. The development camp will feature two on-floor practices and team building sessions. All practices and games will take place on special plastic tile floors.
Team Alberta
Two goaltenders and 12 skaters will be selected to participate in the 7th annual USA Hockey InLine (USAHIL) National Junior Festival. This will be sixth year in a row that Team Alberta has participated in this prestigious U.S. tournament and it?s hoping to recapture the form that led them to winning the bronze medal in 2005.
All players (male and female) living in Alberta that were born in the years 1988, 1989 and 1990, regardless of their national affiliation, are eligible to tryout. In other words, the selection camp is completely open. In past years, for example, players from Edmonton Inline and players not registered with HAIL or any other organization for that matter, have played on Team Alberta.
This program, including the selection camp, is designed to provide inline hockey players aged 15-18 years old with the opportunity to showcase their skills as well as the opportunity for the highest level of skill development possible.
The camp will consist of five floor sessions (i.e., two instructional drill sessions and three controlled games). The USAHIL National Junior Festival tournament will take place June 13-17 at the Soc?n Roll Sports Arena in Monument, Colorado, located west of Colorado Springs. Team Alberta will be competing for North American bragging rights against four USAHIL regional all-star teams (Team West, Team South, Team Midwest, and Team East), plus two other Canadian teams (Team British Columbia and Team Ontario) who will be competing in this tournament for the first time.
