Thread: Help me pick my new skates!

Question Help me pick my new skates!

I'm starting inline hockey up again, and need to buy new skates. My range is about $200-$250. Does anybody have any suggestions? I've used Tour skates before, and seemed to like them fine. I've had no experience with Mission, Reebok, or CCM.

I know many of you will tell me to modify an ice boot, but I don't have the time or willingness to do all of that, though that might be the best option.

If you have skates, and you love em (or hate em) let me know! I need all the suggestions I can get.

I am in love with my new Mission Wicked 3's. I've only skated in them for 4 hours but can already tell that my increased speed, agility and stopping ability have made me a much much better player. I tried on both the Wicked 3's and 5's at the store and for some reason the fives were hurting the inside and outside of my foot. Then i tried on the 3's and they seemed much more comfortable with only a slight pressure on the inside of the foot (not painful). But dont take my word for it. Go to the store and try on both and if neither of them are your cup of tea, maybe you'll end up going with a different brand all together. But if you do like the wicked 3's, dont buy them from the store. Do what I did and go to www.onlineskatehouse.com and you can get them for $330. Bake them twice so they mold to your foot and wear thin moisture wicking socks to prevent blisters. Also to avoid blisters, break them in slowlly. Don't do what I did and skate for 1.5 hours the first time you use them (resulted in large blister that is taking forever to heal). My advice is to get the skate that your foot feels most comfortable in. Comfort is priceless... and essential to maximize and reach your full potential

I have had both, I like my Tours better than my missions. The best missions ever were made about 8-9 years ago. Since then, they aren't the same. Tours' middle of the road skates, are actually their most durable. I would stick to the best two brands in the game, Tour or Mission!

    Hey,
I was told mission techs went engineering for Tour, or the other way around, donīt know for sure,so maybe that explains the similarities between the two brands. Also consider Nike-Bauer.I have the 2007 X-Lite with unity shift wheels and ABEC9 bearings.Iīm very happy with them. For outdoor I use CCM Pfīs ... but they are a mess in terms of wheels (72/76/76/80) and very fragile along the boot. The Bauer skates come with similar not to say equal to Ice boots ...so they are battle ready.Stiff, light, and good looking as all hell... and those Unity for indoor... man... youīre glued to the surface... anyways, my team mates mostly go with Tour. All 80s...so you get some serious speed once you get moving.Personally,I donīt like Mission skates, I donīt like the Hi-Low tech. But thatīs me.For some reason they lead the market in europe along with tour , so...

Well I have a pair of wicked-1s and I absolutly love them, one tip though on the wicked line of skates, well for 1-3 it's suicide to not get the ankles punche I have scars from breaking in my wickeds the ankels are too small and have no padding(its like putting your ankle bones in a vice and tightening it down and then walking around) but once you get them punched they fit lika a glove. but I wouldn't go out and spend $500 on a pair of wicked one I got them for $200, the pro shop was closing down. one more thing they have basicly no protection, if you play d or stand up alot in front of shots
