Albany, NY

Hey guys, I am looking to get into a league, possibly start a team in Albany, NY. I used to be in a league but the building was bought by the YMCA and they stopped the roller league. I was wondering if anyone knew of any places to place as i have been out of the sport for a couple of years. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm assuming that the league you're talking about was the one at the Big Arena. I played in that as well. As far as I know, there isn't much to pick from in the area. There is a pick-up league in Glens Falls at Skateland. It's got the whole wooden floor/disco ball thing going for it though. I think they do that every Thursday.

Last summer, there was a league at Union College every Tuesday from June til August. They are supposed to have it again this year, but who knows.

In the meantime, there are about 9 of us that get together every Sunday and play at the Collins Park Rink in Scotia. It's where the Blackflies youth leagues are run in the summer. It's a great rink and we play there for free all summer long. It's outdoors, so the weather plays a role in how much we get to play. Since the snow hasn't slammed us this year, we have been able to play through the fall and winter so far. Who knows how long that will last. Your welcome to join us if you want.
