    College Roller Hockey...

Does anyone have any ideas for an overall ranking system for the CRHL? Something like the top 25 in the nation.

i don't believe there is a legitimate ranking system in place yet but you can go to CRHL.net and check out who did what at last year's national championships.

Last year, there was a ranking system at collegerollerhockey.com . . I think the site is down for the time being, but it should be coming back up soon. It was based on a type of "AP" poll which was voted on by some of the regional directors and more knowledgable college hockey people across the country.

    Re: College Roller Hockey...

I take college roller hockey rankings like such very lightly. They are very, very, very subjective. Not that other college rankings aren't also partly subjective, but in the current structure of roller hockey at the college level, these rankings are even worse.

For NCAA sports, rankings often take into account strength of schedule and conferences, and I don't think a majority of people are seeing more than one CRHL region play during the regular season. Basically, most schools who go to the CRHL NCT really don't know what the competition will be like. It's basically a crapshoot, as I gather. Yes, there have been teams which are traditional powerhouses, like MSU, PSU, etc., but most schools don't see the changes in their teams from season to season and don't meet them until the NCT.

Case in point, MSU was ranked #1 in collegerollerhockey.com's poll for the majority of last season. I think this was more based on their tradition of winning then on the strength of their current roster and team.

I definitely see these polls having some creedence in the future, but definitely, not at this point. If college roller hockey outgrows the idea of the "hockey weekend" (speaking from my ECRHA experience) and teams start putting together their own schedules (like college ice), we might see this.

Sorry for the venting.. Thought it might start a conversation!
