PIHA Canadian teams
What's the deal with the PIHA teams that are supposed to start playing this season out of western Canada? Have they finished tryouts, chosen team names, anything like that? Just wondering how the division is shaping up..

Re: PIHA Canadian teams
Come on, nobody knows anything about the Canadian teams? I'm starting to doubt the Canada expansion is really happening. I mean, season starts this weekend and Canadian teams haven't even been named yet, let alone had tryouts..

Re: PIHA Canadian teams
it's canada... it's kinda far away from most of us... i don't really think it's that hard to believe no one has much info about whats going on up there, and anyone that does wouldnt post it because it may not be set in stone yet...
what i think we do know about the division though is that it is pretty much PIHA adopting a league that is already in place, with teams and organizations who have been playing with and against each other in alberta in the past. so they may or may not have already had tryouts or might not be having them at all... as for names, if what i just said is true, i dont understand why no one knows them, but maybe the league wants them to have new names, logos, uniforms that are more like other teams in the league... just a possibility...
i wouldnt worry that we havent heard anything from up there...

Re: PIHA Canadian teams
Based on what I am reading in the professional Inline Hockey Forum about the Canadian Teams in the PIHA.
Just to let everyone know - as I am typing this - it is -35 outside and YES there is lots of snow!
There will be six teams in the Major division and 4 teams in the minor. The Edmonton; Alberta community is very strong in Inline hockey with over 3000 youth and Adults playing the sport.
Most of our players are ice hockey players and use Inline as a way to rest and prepare for the up and coming ice hockey season.
The Canada West Pro Inline Hockey League (PIHA Branch) is very committed and will prove that committment by putting a very good product on the Inline Hockey surface; this coming season!
As most can apprecitate - Canada operates Inline Hockey quite a bit differently and has the PIHA has gone internationally by allowing Canada to come in - there are dynamics being worked out.
It anyone requires further information - Please email me: [email protected]

Re: PIHA Canadian teams
Do you have a web site up there in the great white snow?

Re: PIHA Canadian teams
I think what we all want to know is team names and rosters at this point.

Re: PIHA Canadian teams
I found a little information on the division here:
http://www.rollerhockey.ab.ca/prairie-west.htm
No rosters, or team names, but it sounds like its a well established local league that's just joining with PIHA so teams already have rosters set. As far as names go, I get the impression they are just regional teams out there so they don't have names, just referred to as Sherwood Park, Spruce Grove, etc.

Re: PIHA Canadian teams
What the heck happened there? The teams were up on the website before the season started, then removed. Obviously this fell through for the 07 season. Is this done for good or what?

Re: PIHA Canadian teams
Let's shed some light on this situation. What happened up there last year, was a matter of rink availability. The rinks didn't flip from ice to roller until mid march and the league was uncomfortable with there plan to try to play a 32 game schedule in one month. Who knows if this will ever change, but until it does, it pretty much eliminates a willing addition to the league.

Re: PIHA Canadian teams
That seems like a logical move
