Thread: Not fair...

  1. #1

    Angry Not fair...

so i'm checking out some of the websites for the teams in PIHA, and open up the website for the Lunatics, and bam! as if they didn't do enough this summer, they have added 2 of the best inline players in the world, Jami Yoder and Dan Costanza... It's pretty safe to say that after this and the other additions they have made during the offseason, they have gone from much improved to strong favorites... Much congrats to CoachClip for adding 2 more studs... As tough as it will be for anyone that has to play against them, it is great for the league to have the best players wanting to participate

Yokes, is that vision problem in anyway attributed to the number of screwdrivers you pregame with?

Jake, you're looking into the Lunatics page too much. 1. Jami is playing UHL for the Quad City Mallards out in Moline, IL. Doubtful we'll see him in many games out east here. 2. Danny's homebase is in Chicago, IL where he's running a youth inter-rink league (looks similar to NARYHL)... same deal applies for him. Unless of course Todd, Biff, Jay and Big Yings all pitched in to get them to travel here for all their games... I highly doubt we'll ever see these two in play, let alone qualify for playoffs. Good Promo for the Tics, maybe it'll attract a few unknowning fans.

Frank... i understand where you're coming from and it's a pretty logical statement that they wont be around that often, but i disagree with thinking they wont qualify for the playoffs... we have players in our program who come from way out of town to play, and we've seen the distance that Johhny P traveled to play for the Growl. And it's probably double suck for us in Pittsburgh because we're the closest city to the direction they're coming from, so they might be likely to play games here. If i remember right, and no guaruntees that i do, you only have to play 10 regular season games to qualify for the playoffs... We had a crazy weekend last season with 6 games, and if you take that and another weekend with 4 games, you have all the games you need in 2 weekends... I'm sure if they've taken the time to get them in the fold, they'll at least be around when it counts...

Last year it was 12 games for the playoffs. This year I believe it will be 20.

Well that would make things interesting... where did you hear that?

    Re: Not fair...

It is in the 2006-2007 PIHA handbook, so I guess it is official. Personally I think it is a good rule, add some legitimancy to the league. I just hope the other divisions keep stats as well as the east.

    Re: Not fair...

I agree that it is a good rule, but there have to be exceptions, which could make it hard to enforce... Obviously the intention is to avoid the players that aren't "local" and only play a handful of games during the season and show up for the playoffs. But for instance if a player gets hurt and doesn't end up playing enough games, or the converse of that, if players get injured near the end of the season and you have to call up a player from the minor team who hasn't played enough games... Every situation is different and it could get messy if you start to make allowances for different people or different cases... Maybe the PIHA rulebook explains some of this, and i will now go bother my owner to find out just that
