Which hockey program is producing the best skills from thier young players? What I am talking about is the local programs that are developing their young players and acheiving the best results with their players?

Example:
Mission Snipers always have very good hockey players but the players always seem to come to them with the skillz.

Skaters Choice Cougars always seem to have a great beginner program. Only problrm is that once a player reaches a certain level they get lost. No where to go to there.

Black Ice always has great players and they seem to develop from within although they too have some of the top players come from programs that are disfunctional wanting to play the better teams and a chance to compete.

Out here on the east there are a multitude of programs producing skills in players and producing fantastic teams

The Snipers always do well and Tim McManus has always had the formula to producing great players - over the past couple of years his current and former players are coaching some of his younger squads and using the same formula

Jason with Black Ice is another great guy out on "the island"

JJ and the crew with the Cougars have been progressing very well over the past few years - I, persoanlly don't think its fair to degrade their - their 18u midget program is a fantastic group, something for their little cougars to look up to

Chris Gosha has done a tremendous job with his assault group at most levels and growing - recently winning NARCh at the 12u level this year!!

Denis with the Grizzlies keep getting better at the younger groups and always doing well in the Adult, 18 and 21

Last but certainly not least on my lists is Breakaway and Pedro - a bunch of National finals to go along with a bunch of National titles at everything from His littlest 6/8u to 18u

The list goes on...........and that is just within a couple of hours out here

I appreciate the compliment but I really have almost nothing do with the Cougars. Mr. Mass, and the guys involved in the day to day should get all the respect. They do a great job and are a model for how a club should be run.

ill tell ya ,ive always liked the idea of taking a group of kids and training them,teach the kids power skateing-work on puck movement and teach them the game,and the game within the game.if you could keep a good group of kids together long enough,you might get that success.

Adam fine words from a kind person and friend. How many years have I know you now? WOW, were really getting old here.

I've gotten to know many hockey people thru the years. You get your impressions of people as you go along. Some impressions come from listening to others talk and some you get by meeting the people. The last 2 years I've gotten the chance to meet many people whom I've known either by what I hear of them or by personally meeting them with State Wars. This is just the New Jersey people. The PA people I'm still trying to get to know better. Impressions are little pictures of things. Those pictures change and so do we. Some great people in the State of New Jersey. Some great people all over the USA. Touching the subject of local clubs that have been mentioned:

Cougars have been a very good club for many years. I've gotten to meet and work with a few people from this club and can say that we have many of the same feelings. Cougar kids are learning great things from their coaches. Some of those coaches are just kids themselves. This is something that is rare to find. My hat goes off to them for the fine job they do with the players from their club.

Snipers and Tim McManus have been the club of the East Coast Since the end of the 99'ers and even then they were a tough group to contend with. Tim has done a great job with his people and teams.

Black Ice and Jason Muro is another person whom is in it for the game. He's a great person to talk to and someone that intregue's me coaching. You never know what he's going to pull out of his hat when your coaching against him. A huge assett to the hockey community.

Chris Gosha is up and coming. He's been running the arena for some time and finally last year became involved with the travel teams. They were good before he moved into coaching and now there that much better. Again Congrats Chris for the run this year at Nationals.

Denis Jelcic and my co partner with the New Jersey teams is a person whom again I've known for many years. The Grizzlies have been a fun group to play against for many years. Denis always finds the spirit in the kids to make them work hard. It's either in the way he laughs with them or the heart attach that's awaiting when you watch him jumping up and down on the bench. A person that is always fun to work with.

CJ Jaguars are also a good club from North Jersey. I've seen lots of good things come from these kids from this club and also have gotten to know a few of the coaches with this group as well. Mark it was certainly a pleasure working with you for a change.

Quite a few PA Teams as well. Gladiators, Piranhas, Revolution and Lunatic's also good clubs. Still getting to know the people from those clubs.

Our group's from Breakaway have been fun to work with. From the youngest groups at 6-8 years old too the oldest group which was 18 this year. We had a blast. From year to year the boys put forth what we work hard for all year when we go to the Nationals. The Flyers Skate Zone walls in Voorhees, New Jersey are lined up with memories of the Summer's fun. Some of the boys have kept some of the trophies to remind them of what they have worked hard to achieve. The medals are just memories of what they pulled off. Pictures are stories waiting to be told.

Talking about pictures! I used to be on the other side of coaching and looking at the game with a different point of view. Watching the excitement from the other side of the camera. Watching many of our kids grow up to be outstanding young men. Off to colleges or to work. I still find myself catching a few of those games where those guys get together to play. Many playing in the PIHA Leagues or the MLRH Leagues. Many playing for pro teams. Everytime I turn around I see someone else whom I can trace back to when they were young. I often look back as well at pictures of some of the great one's who have passed on.

What I do today with my groups is try to create those memories. Try to help our kids acheive some goals and have something to look back at.

I read a story today that said:
When we die there are two dates that are remembered.
One is your birthdate, the year you were born
The last date is the Date in which you passed!
The thing that cought my attention in the article that was sent to me was that the writter made me see something more then just those two dates.
Everyone see's the --- between the dates. In the message that was sent to me today it told me what those --- were for!
Those ---'s are for the memories from that first date to that end date.
I had never given that a thought! So after you've read this long post I hope that you take the time to think back and remember. What we do for the kids today is something that they will remember and so will you! Don't let your impression of someone weather it be by word of mouth or in briefly meeting someone be something that you can't change. I know that I've been guilty of this and have seen differently. Remember It's like a picture. Pictures change and so do people!

Not feeling the roller hockey love here, my passive aggressive friend. Cougars Midgets have been to the two last NARCH Nats getting to the quarters in 2006, and winning USA InLine at Shelton. Little Cougars have placed well in other tournaments as well. All sent players to State Wars.

Good question you originally posted, but is it just a smokescreen to then bash Snipers, Cougars and Black Ice, all of which have good programs? Where is it that you are looking to go?

I think the oringinal question is which hockey promgrams are producing the best YOUNG skilled players.If thats the case its hard not to say Cougars,Marple,Goodsports and teams like that.Most player in this new era of roller hockey play with more than one team or started with some of the teams named above.It not who they play for that matters its that they become the best hockey player they can be.{If thats what that player wants}.Many skilled players came from teams that are no longer around. EXAMPLE Deptford,309 and Delaware Blades to name a few.

Standsview, thx for the attempt at translation, but NoName is describing some type of problem that at the Cougars, once some level of eliteness is gained, he is held back. I'd like him to explain that statement.

In this "new era of roller", its important to keep the negative comments in check, as particpation is on the decline in our area and 2007 will be a challenging year for the clubs still participating.

BTW, what ever happpened to 309? If I remember, that was the rink with the cinderblock half walls
