Sprung frames?

I never mounted a chassis on a boot before. Do I use the existing rivet holes or do I have to make new ones? I am looking to mount the Sprung chassis to a Mission 10000 Skate sz 10. Any help?

Very rarely will the new chassis holes line up with the original chassis holes. Therefore you will want to find the center of the original chassis and mark it on the boot before you remove it. Then line up the center of the new chassis with those marks on the boot, this will allow you to place the new chassis straight and centered. With the new chassis centered on the marks you put on the boot, you will mark the new chassis mounting holes. If the new chassis holes align with any of the existing hole that will be a great advantage, obviously, so use those and mark all other holes, if it aligns close you will have to make a judgment call on whether to ream out the close hole to match or adjust the chassis to fit. Moving the new chassis off center more than a millimeter will screw up your skating noticeably. If you have to ream out and existing hole, use over sized rivets if you can, as this will help in strengthening the mount. Nothing worse than a $500.00 boot w/ a $100.00 custom chassis that is screwed up. All this being said I would very much recommend that you let a very experienced boot technician do this, not that a laymen can't, but the equipment and experience of a well trained technician will likely save you many headaches, and possibly $600.00...Good luck

if you never mounted frames before i would let your LHS do it ,also sprung recommends you go 1/4in back to heel from the center line.(find center of boot go 1/4in back towards heel)BUT each frame and boot mount is different.

More often than not the size of the chassis heel plate/placement of the holes will dictate how close or far away from the centerline you can mount a given chassis. Best to try to get both ends as close to the centerline of the boot not necessarily the centerline of the sole plate (not all sole plates are perfectly centered to the boot) as possible..but personal preference may dictate moving the chassis a bit inboard of center for some players...if there is room to do so....obviously this will vary with boot size....

Speaking of which....how many different chassis sizes do they offer?

yeah good point ,look at some of the kids skates.a size 3or4 skate has the front wheel so far out.they would use that same frame on a size 8or9 and it would look fine .
