Thread: Sticks?

    Sticks?

Hey, I am after 3 new sticks
    - I need 1 stick for outdoor play (cement) (this can be a shaft and blade combo)
    - I need 1 stick for use on a sport court (floor boards) (this can be any type)
    - I need 1 stick for use on a normal inline hockey rink (to be used at state and national level)

Any suggestions? I like a stick with a stiff blade.

    Thanks
    Muzza

    Hi Muzza,

For the outdoor stick, I'd recommend something with a replaceable blade, because you'll be going through 'em. I'll leave it to IHC's readers for additional suggestions -- they're the experts.

    Re: Sticks?

"Sport Court" or "Ice Court" or some similar surface is what you will see at "state and national levels". "Floor boards" are NOT "Sport Court"...that is likely just a regular wooden roller rink floor...and the same stick you use for "Sport Court" or "Ice Court" will also work there.

The it's more the stiffness of the shaft than the blades you might be worried about...although most composite blades will feel a little less "sensitive" than a wood blade insert. Stick shaft stiffness(flex) varies by a number count which is similar but nor universal between manufacturers... starting from the lowest numbers as most flexible to the highest as the stiffest....Like a 75 flex would be a very flexible stick in a Mission, CCM, Easton, etc, and a 110 flex a very stiff shaft in those makes. But the number ratings are not exactly identical between makes, so you will want to pick up a few shafts/sticks and try them to see what feels right.
