    State of Hockey

Hockey is a rough sport, but some things have never been excepted, like spearing and checks from behind and any other actions that have nothing but the "intent to injure" behind them. Well, it appears now it is accepted by the only large and organized inline league in the country, PIHA. It appears the Professional Inline Harrisburg Association is back to proving its just as incompetent as the embarrassing MLRH. Its these leagues' incompetence that prevents the popularity of Inline from spreading and the reason Ice Hockey continues to be hockey of choice for most kids in this country. Way to go PIHA, way to make a another statement to your incompetence.

Do not knock the league because of one bad experience. If you are talking about one bad call or something that was not called than you should keep quiet. In any Pro legues, calls are missed and bad calls are made. Do you even play PIHA? If you do atleast have your info posted on your post name. The league has some issues but it is definiltey a great league to play in. And what Pro league does not have their own issues. NHL just got off strike, MLB has a steroid issue, etc. And in all these sports officiating is always a problem. In MLb why does the strike zone change each day in a series, because each umpire has their own strike zone. All I am saying is do not knock the league. There are alot of people trying to make it happen, and we do not need people like you trying to ruin it or give it a bad name. Wrong statement to put it in the same sentence as MLRH. Totally 2 different leagues in all aspects.

    Re: State of Hockey

while this is a brutal post, you are obviously a player who was speared or checked from behind. I think you have a point, but i think you went about bringing it up the wrong way. I do not think PIHA is incompetent at all, some of the officials, maybe. I think there is one thing that you are over-looking, money. Are these the best refs at every game, no, not even close. But who is going to do it if they do not? Once, and hopefully, when the league picks up major sponsors it will enable the league to pay more money to the officials, bringing foward a better quality official.

This is not a knock on any of the refs that work for PIHA, it just has to do with experience of officiating top-notch games. Some of the teams in this league are really good, some of the officials may have a hard time keeping up, it is not thier fault. They are just not used to the pace, that comes with experience.

I know that i am a big fan of hating officials, but refs always miss something, from mites, all the way to the pros, in both ice and roller hockey. If you would like to pay for top-notch officials to be flown in for these games, then by all means do it, cause for you to say the league is bad because you got speared is rediculous. As of next season it will be the only real league left to play in, so either get on the ship, or go play house league.

My problem is not with the officials.....they are not the ones that hand down suspension. My problems stems with the league office. As long as decisions look bias and hap-hazard legitimacy is not something the league will ever have. I have never had a problem with the on rink officials, they can't make decisions on the spot about what should and should not be a suspension.

I will neither agree or disagree with your statements. Just remember to open your eyes and be sure to look at everything that has happaned and will happen. No league can be a true league until the owners, not one man, makes the decisions. As long as one or two men own and run the league, just as with MLRH, nothing but problems can occur.

I agree with that statement. But I think that is what Charlie has planned for the future. Or at least I hope. There are many things to be worked out, and yes everyone has to come together and make decisions. I own the rink that the Minutemen play at. For my adult leagues I do not make the decisions on suspensions. I have my head ref make those decisions. I believe that Hausman make the suspensions but I am not positive. Anyway have to leave to go to Pitts to play in the play offs. I hope you did not take anything personal, I am sure that you do have a point, I just do not know your situation.

my mistake i must've misunderstood your post, i now understand what you mean after re-reading it and i think there are biases in this league, but hey we have to over-come them ya know. I was faced with the opposite situation last season where i was suspended for 4 games, and it cost me from playing in the playoffs, for a pretty bogus ruling to be honest, but hey gotta move on, we won anyways, and this league is thriving and i want to be a part of it when it gets huge, bottom line, unless you get hurt from an intentional stick or check from behind and there's no call, then you have a case. Otherwise, its a tough call...

    Re: State of Hockey

PIHA has been making baby steps for the past 4 years... The steps that will take place over the summer (expanding west and north) will be considerably larger... Charlie has done a tremendous job, and what he does he does for the game. People never seem to look at the positives... only pointing out the negatives... PIHA is finishing a very sucessful campaign. How often have any of the other leagues been able to say that?
The league is expanding and your right, the powers that be will need more help (and I'm sure they'll get it).
We've all been at the wrong end of executive decisions... we have to be thankful for what we have (the one and only highly successful league) and do whatever we can to help it grow..... Don't bash the integrity of this league. Consider the competition when doing so.
    Thats my two cents....

first off you should state your incident instead of just bashing the league. it sounds like you are pissed about an incident that happened either to you or a teammate. And what is with the Professional Inline Harrisburg Association. Is that a mistake or is that a crack at our team. While the refs had planety of issues this year. there were a few that couldn't keep up with the play in the minor leadue games much less the pro's. There was one i remember who couldn't even stop. we had some chippy games this year but only one that really got out of hand. And none that i would call dirty.

here's a suggestion...get out of the league if you don't like it. we do not need mouthpieces like you degrading this league. it is the best thing out there and you're on here saying stuff like this. go manage/assistant coach/water boy...whatever it is you do somewhere else. this is the first i'm seeing this thread and it is ludicrous. "professional inline harrisburg association"...you really don't want to go there. this is a joke!

HaHa cant believe people are b**chin about dirty play and other stuff along those lines. If anyone has the right to complain about stuff like that it would be me. My arm was broken on a dirty play and not once have I ever bashed anyone about it. Also anyone that says that it wasn't a dirty play is full of ****. There was other players of the league in the stands watching that seen the hit and will agree. On top off it all there was never even a call made on the play. People need to quit crying and if they don't like what's going on in our league, then leave.

What was the dirty hit? Is it possible that you skated into a guy who just has better balance and is stronger? Its like if any of us skated into Steve Ying, the result would be ugly for most of us, with Steve not being at fault....he is just bigger and solid on his skates.
