Need a new shaft, whats wrong with me?
i need an aluminum shaft i think. every composite shaft i have ever owned ends up like this (the blade gets shoved into the shaft and starts to crack it causing an eventual break):

Can anyone suggest a good, moderately priced replacement for a shaft that wont break on me like that?

The old Easton A/c shafts.
They have alloy at the bottom for putting blades in.
A guy on our team got one but got it too whippy for him and it snapped off at the alloy bit.
If it was stiff enough it would have stood up.
None of that stinkin' root beer

don't go back to aluminum.....try the green tour beemer one piece, it has been the most durable and affordable to date ! 99 bucks.

Back in the day I had the Shanahan Classic (gold and red aluminum) and the Easton Convex (blue aluminum) Man, those things were stiff.

Are you using it for inline or ice hockey? If its inline, take my word here. I've broken every stick you can think of until I started using Tour shafts. They hold up great and I have nothing but good things to say about them. I use both 100 and 110 flex depending on which model shaft I'm using but either the Impulse(white) or Spoiler(silver)are both great shafts. I have never used them playing ice so I really couldn't give you an opinion on how the hold up playing ice. As far as price goes, I think I paid 70 bucks per shaft or somewhere in that range anyway.

Hard to tell from the picture, but it almost looks like the blades you are using are too big (wide / thick). Are you have to pound them into the shaft? Even though blades are "Standard" "Tapered" or "Junior" doesn't mean they will fit all shafts. You may also be using too much glue, not getting the glue hot enough, etc. Also, are you using a blow torch on the shaft? You should really be using a heat gun. It looks to me like you are damaging the shaft when you insert the blade. Even if it is just a hairline fracture that is not immediately visible...it will propagate into a big crack after you take a few shots.
Try a different blade...or file/sand/grind the blade down a tiny bit before you put it in the shaft. If it fits good, and the glue is warm enough, it should EASILY slide into the shaft.
I can just picture you jumping up and down on the blade, jamming the butt end of the shaft into the floor until the blade "slides" in.

what are you heating the shaft with? I know that even a high temp heat gun will weaken the shaft.Take carein heating the shaft.
