I was wondering if anyone watches or plays another sport besides hockey. I watch hockey, football, and baseball. I also play football and softball with friends.

Hi John,
I don't watch much television anymore, so I watch hardly any sports on TV. Baseball moves far too slowly for me, most of the Super Bowls I've watched have been blowouts, and what's the point of watching basketball until the last two minutes? I played soccer when I was younger and would go to a big international match (such as a World Cup game), but I can't say I'm much interested in the current U.S. pro league.
Yep, the more I think about it, the more I'm a one-sport dude. That said, if it's free, like a surfing championship, or a niece or nephew's soccer game, I'm all over it.

I basically watch and play everything. Besides hockey, I am all about playing tennis right now, though. I started out playing tennis as an alternative workout for hockey. I always weight trained, but I felt like I needed to add some other type of workouts. I am doing some martial arts and now play tennis. I read that it is a great workout for a hockey player because of the side to side leg work, twisting while hitting the ball, and the hand/eye aspect of hitting the ball. Not only do I enjoy the workout, but I really like the one on one competition of the game.
I enjoy watching (and shooting) Lacrosse here locally. We also have some pretty good cash Volleyball leagues here. Fun to watch most times.

Dont know if you would consider it too much of a sport...but all the hockey players around here are REALLY big into poker
Hey Cannibalkid,
When they're not golfing, that is.

Well, since the folks in England have ruled that 'darts' is a sport, I guess poker could be as well.
Actually the darts ruling is pretty funny because now they are talking drug testing. Also offseason weight lifting!
you can read about here:

Might be careful what you wish for

I am really into poker myself. I play online, local tourneys and in Atlantic City often. I don't know how anyone can call it a sport though. A game and a sport are two different things. It is a game of the mind with no physical skills necessary. It is silly to consider darts a sport, but at least in darts you need hand eye coordination and you are using your arm to throw.
Dude,
Poker is a game. Not a sport. Good luck to you, but get that straight, REALLY quickly. Otherwise, you might think you're an athlete every time you beat your 5-year-old niece at Tiddlywinks...

I've taken up disc golf in the past couple weeks. It's a good change of pace for someone who plays and works hockey. It's def not as easy as it looks. I spend most of my time in the woods looking for my discs!!

Ahhh, I used to skip scholl and .... er... lose a lot of brain cells while playing disc golf. Man that was a _long_ time ago
definately much harder than you would think. Figured out the 'roll' shot yet?
Ben Loyall
havent figured out ANY shot yet..lol

I hear ya!

looks to give a few quick basics
Heck it is making me want to go dig up my old discs although they are probably warped silly by now. We are talking some 25 years since I last used them.

You youngster!
I enjoy it all, to a point. All pro athletes are overpaid whiners imo, even hockey players, though they did get the shaft with the CBA, as compared to other athletes. I hate watching basketball on TV, but i can stomach most other sports on the tube.
When it comes to playing them, I am down for it all.
16" Softball ftw.
