    Pay for Officials

Can you please post some information regarding how much officials are being paid these days (roller only). Answer the following:

    Pay per game
Pay per hour (you might need to base this on the previous question)
    Length of game
    Age Division
House/Rec league, or travel series like NARCh/TORHS
Cash, 1099, or taxes taken out directly
    Is pay nightly, weekly, monthly
Is official expected to do anything other than officiate the game?
How many games average per night, or per weekend

    Thanks.

    Rebecca,

I think it will depend on each organization and will vary a lot. But I will show you what we pay in our league

Per game $15 a ref if only one ref they get $30
Games run in hour time slots so $15
    3 10 min periods
    Adult
    Rec league
    Cash
    Nightly
Official is there to officiate only
roughly 7 games on sundays and 2 on mon-wed

    Re: Pay for Officials

Pay per game/hour; each game 1 hour or so
    -$6.00 per game

    Age Division
House/Rec league, or travel series like NARCh/TORHS
-house rec league only; youth and teen/adult divisions

Cash, 1099, or taxes taken out directly
    Is pay nightly, weekly, monthly
-monthly check, no taxes taken, W-9 filed

Is official expected to do anything other than officiate the game?
-sometimes play-direct line changes for younger ages

How many games average per night, or per weekend
-any official 2-5 games per date, pretty much as desired...

-Our referee program is volunteer adults, and contracted teens/younger adults who make pocket money off the deal...$6 per hour for something they care about, enjoy, they each play the game themselves, and it beats flipping burgers.

    Hope this info helps...

Feasterville seems to have a big program and many tournaments. Have you checked with them?

    Re: Pay for Officials

    Rebecca,

I am a ref at Feasterville. Our game fees for the adult league are as follows:
$21 a game during the fall, winter, and spring.
$25 a game during the summer and the over 30 league, the reason for the increased rate is we go with no timekeeper during this time.
All games are in 45 minute time slots.
We are paid in cash nightly.
We usually work anywhere from 4-5 games a night.
Most of our in-house tourmnaments pay either $20 a game or $30 hourly.
I also officiate NARCh, STATEWARS, MLRH, PIHA, AAU, and TOPCAT. If you need some info on these leagues and tournament series send me a private message. Some of the info should stay off these boards.

    Re: Pay for Officials

JEZZ I think I am goona ref....I heard it was like 8.00 per game.

I do know of one tourney that pays the head official and he in turns pays the refs. hmmmmm maybe on evaluation of the games?

In general the refs are pretty good. I have had my problems with a few... one comes to mind right now. GRRR other than he, I think the rule needs to be no more than 3-4 games with out a break of a game or two. I see after refs have had 8-10 games to be much more intolerant of the action. They either call it too lose or too tight. More so that not, the game ends up in a fiasco. Of cource it is usually the hormone driven player that are of lesser skill and only know when they get "walked" ok you "blankety blanker" I'll show you and bam a stick across the body.... THEN it's TOOOOOOOOO late.

God Forbid if it the dang coaches 19th game of the day and he feels the heat of needing a win...
