    USA Hockey Inline Nationals

Congratulations to both the Manini Wahini and the Cincinnati Eagles on their Girls' 19's championship finish at the USAHIL youth nationals this past week. These two programs continue to be the class of the world when it comes to quality hockey.

The championship game came down to the final two minutes tied 0-0, before Cinicnnati got the heartbreaker. An empty netter put the final tally at 2-0.

The level of play in girls hockey continues to soar. Every game in the tournament came down to the final five minutes...

We certainly hope to see Team Mid-America and the Cal Selects next year. That would be very cool!

We also want to single out the program from Hawaii for their great developmental efforts this year. They actually entered a squad in EVERY age division of girls' play, and had to do some re-combining to get all their girls onto the teams for the age divisions that did "make."

The Nations-Tobin Polar Bears would like to issue a promise to the Manini girls that we also will have a girls' team in every age division next year.

We hope to see all the girl players in the country next year at the USAHIL championships, out on the blue floor.

Thanks! to the teams, the coaches, and the USA Hockey Inline staff, for a great experience.

    Danny,

We would love to see you "out on the blue floor also"........ in Virginia Beach at the Junior Olympics next Summer.

GEAR Mid America, the Tour Jaguars, the Florida Pink Wings, the Colorado Blizzard and the Cal Selects will all be there. The Tour Bordercats may also make an appearance. Age divisions are 12u, 14u, 17u, 20u and Women's. All Americans are picked from all divisions and invites sent out for the TEAM USA Women's, 18u and 16u team tryouts in 2006.

USAHIL is a nice tournament, well run; competition is not as strong as Narch, TORHS or AAU, players do not get to represent their country in international competition.

    Phil:

I have had the priviledge of seeing the Cal Selects train and play at last year's InLine Cup. I have skated with many of the Colorado Girls, and seen many at this year's USAHIL National Evaluation Camp, I have seen several of the Pink Wings as well.

These girls are indeed everything you would report them to be. I applaud all these fine programs on continuing to develop girls/women's inline hockey at a tremendous rate.

We all look forward to the different national organizations putting together many new programs for our girl athletes.

Phil: Uh, I've got a couple of slots on the Nations-Tobin Polar Bears 50's team for this year's InLine Cup...love to have you skate with us...lemme know and I'll send you our team set of info...

Thanks! to Phil and these other fine programs for all they are doing for girls/women's inline hockey.

    Danny,

Thank you for the invite to skate with your team. Unfortunately, I coach and do not skate and I am "only" 41.

Where in VA Beach will this be held?

I believe the leading candidate is the hampton roads Center where it was held in 2001. Nothing is etched in stone as yet, but that is the leading candidate.

there are 2 other locations under consideration but they are distant choices.

I live in Hampton Roads (Chesapeake/VB line) and have no idea where it was held. Unless they brought in a floor the closest sport court is Williamsburg. Maybe just missed it but usually I try to see any inline in the area. AAU was a 6 day event at Arc Ice in Chesapeake in 2001 but that facility no longer has sport court.

They will bring in 3 or 4 floors if they can. As I mentioned there are 2 other sites being considered if your area does not work out.
