Hi Folks,
Here's a great-sounding, upcoming tournament in Chicago that you should know about:
***
Youth Ironman Inline Hockey Tournament June 25-26, 2005.
QUICKCHANGE SKATES is pleased to present a single day 4-on-4 event: The 3rd Annual Beachfront Youth Ironman Inline Hockey Tournament.
WHAT?
Don't let the 10- to 12-minute game times fool you. Within three hours, you will have skated the equivalent of two complete 'regular' games. We call it the Ironman because only 4 players (plus a goalie** ) are allowed per team, no substitutions. Each team is guaranteed four games, played in a round-robin fashion. Trophies are awarded to the top teams from each division, earning the title "Best on the Beach."
WHO?
Using 2005 USA Inline Hockey guidelines, U8 and U10 divisions will play on Saturday, U12 and U14 on Sunday. Teams will be seperated by class (AAA = Elite, AA = Competetive, A = Recreational) and there will even be a NO GOALIE REQUIRED** division which utilizes our proprietary (patent pending) Canadian Quad Net.
Unlike most hockey tournaments, at North Ave Beach THE WHOLE FAMILY will enjoy themselves: swimming, soccer, football, softball, bike rental, picnic, volleyball... Why not go to the Taste of Chicago before or after? Each team registration includes a hot dog, chips and a coke for each participant at THE NORTHSTAR eatery just a minute away. Why not rent one of our Bocce ball or Beanbag toss sets and have some fun before, after, or between hockey games? Parents might also decide to enjoy adult beverages on the rooftop patio at Castaways.
WHERE?
Our one-of-a-kind facility is located right on North Avenue Beach, the city's crowned jewel and best beach, just moments from downtown Chicago and the Lincoln Park Zoo. click here for a map, directions, and parking information.
WHEN?
U8 and U10 will play Saturday June 25. U12 and U14 will play Sunday June 26th. THE FOLLOWING TIMES AND SCHEDULE IS AN APPROXIMATION AND WILL DEPEND ON THE NUMBER OF REGISTRANTS WE RECEIVE: The first group will begin around 8 or 9am until about noon. From around noon to 1 p.m., you will get a chance to meet 'Skates' from the Chicago Wolves and take a picture with your teammates and participate in our skills contest and obstacle course. There will be a small $5 fee for running 'The Gauntlet' twice, but there will be great prizes and the chance to compete AGAINST your teammates for bragging rights. Quickchange skates will pay $3 of your $5 fee if you use their demo skates for the obstacle course.
The second group will begin around 1-2 p.m. until about 4- 5 p.m., followed by an awards ceremony. If you'd like to get your picture taken with Skates, please make sure you arrive early.
