Team Alberta Named for USA Hockey In Line (USAHIL) National Junior
Festival

RED DEER - Hockey Alberta Inline has named its 14 player roster, 12
skaters and 2 goaltenders, for the 2005 USA Hockey In Line (USAHIL)
National Junior Festival. This year's event is being held in Washington,
DC, June 3-5. Eleven athletes are returning from the 2004 Team Alberta
squad.

Team Alberta will make its fourth appearance at the annual USA Hockey In
Line (USAHIL) National Junior Festival in 2005. For Team Alberta, this
prestigious tournament is a by-invitation-only event.

The selection camp for the 2005 Team Alberta squad took place May 13-15
at the Collicutt Centre in Red Deer. It was an "open" tryout for all
players living in the province of Alberta born in the years 1986-1989.
Thirty-six athletes from across the province took part in two skill
evaluation sessions and four controlled scrimmages.

Team Alberta Head Coach Jason Stephens commented on the rosters
selections. Said Stephens, "We had some very skilled players attend the
tryouts and some tough decisions to make, however we are confident in
our selections and look forward to going down to Washington to challenge
the Americans."

The tournament format consists of round-robin play followed by the top
two finishers competing in the championship gold medal game. The third
and fourth place finishers after the round-robin games play for the
bronze medal in the consolation game.

"It is our goal to build a team that can match the Americans' foot speed
and wheel control. That's not easy considering the majority of our
competition is on their wheels 12 months a year. If we can equal their
skating we're confident our team play will give us the upper hand,"
commented Stephens.
