Buffalo Wings Cup
The 5th Annual Buffalo Wings Cup Tournament is gearing up to be the biggest and the best yet. The Wings Cup has become a fixture on the local roller hockey circuit. This year?s tournament, to be held at the Amherst Pepsi Center on Aug. 10-12, will feature teams in youth divisions and both men?s & women?s adult divisions. The Wings are offering a cash prize for the winning men?s and women?s teams.
The Wings Cup is quickly becoming the battleground for some the best women?s teams in North America. Last year?s Cup featured the inaugural ?Challenger?s Series? and the birth of a new predator sitting on top of the mountain. The Lady Wings were formed to compete against teams from Major League Roller Hockey Women?s league (MLRH-W) in a Showcase Tournament and made an immediate impression. After an opening game loss, the Ladies ran the table to capture their first tournament win on their first try.
The 2001 Wings Cup will welcome new teams looking to knock the Ladies off of their perch. This year?s ?Challenger Series? already includes the London Screaming Eagles from London Ontario and the Blades from West Bloomfield Michigan.
The men?s and youth divisions are equally competitive. As the host team for the Wings Cup, the Junior Wings are always ready to defend the nest against all challengers. The Wings Cup is the last blast for the summer and features teams from the northeast, mid-west, mid-Atlantic and southern Ontario regions.
