    Travel

More than anything, this is why I wish for one national organization to take the reins and make this work for everybody:

However, this is not a discussion of this national organization vs. that national organization

Travel...I am hereby declaring that my household can only afford to make the following annual itinerary:

    1. 2 regional area, weekend youth tournament events,
    2. 1 national-level, 4-day-plus-travel-out-and-back, youth tournament,
    3. 1 national-level, 4-day-plus-travel-out-and-back, adult tournament...

That's about it. After talking with several of you out there, I don't know how many people can afford to do more. I think this is why Sate Wars -which is a tremendous, very forward thinking program- is not going to do as well as they might have hoped for this first-year-out-of-the-box. Players committed already to the national event of their choice maybe can't afford to tack on a second outing. I know we can't.

What would be great would be the event that included everybody. The sponsored, recruit-level travel teams, the league rec teams, the platinum-gold-silver-copper-bronze-nickel/cadmium categories within each one of those, and then also the state rep teams playing off, with all this going on in a six rink complex in Las Vegas...

    Wouldn't that be something?!

Now that I've postulated all this, look for it to actually happen within three years, and please believe that there are good people working toward it as we speak...you may believe me or not, just remember where you heard it, and give me the footnote when you quote me on it...

Danny, I would love to see that espically in Las Vegas. You could get a lot of people to go because it is Las Vegas. I know I would play in a tournment like that. Even if I had to travel outside of Las Vegas. We have an advantage here because we are all use to drinking alochol and playing. Some of you my be use to it too. I hope this happens because that would be big for our sport.

No, a tournment where every skill level and player could play in.
