NHL Involvement in IIHF In-Line Program

    Dear IHC Readers:

Hoping you can help me with this one. The recent NARCh-NHL press release states that "Between 1996 and 1998, the League also operated the International Ice Hockey Federation's Inline Hockey World Championships".

    Is that true?

    Thanks for any insights.

    Hi Marty,

Yes the NHL's Fan Development Department helped manage the IIHF' World Championships. I know one of the events was in Anaheim.

They stopped just after I started to work for them.

    Hi Marty,

And they did an excellent job. The first two IIHF World Championships were held at Disney Ice in Anaheim.

I attended both, and was very impressed. The NHL even had some of the fans have their faces painted in the colors of their national teams flags; that was pretty cool, and something I hadn't recalled seeing before at an inline hockey event!
