Thread: Lighted hockey balls?

    Lighted hockey balls?

Is there such a thing as lighted street hockey balls? We enjoy playing at an outdoor rink and with the days getting shorter, we've started using lights to light the rink. However, it's still hard to see the ball and it'd be great if there were such a thing as lighted hockey balls similiar to the lighted golf balls.

    Thanks!

    Hi Homer,

Sun Hockey makes lighted balls and pucks. From what I recall, the lighted ball was heavy and hard... FYI. Good luck

    Thanks for the info!

I tried finding one of them a local sports shops, but everyone was sold out. I gave the company a call and they told me the best place to buy them was in Target stores in the Pet Toy section called Fetch and Glow.

Apparently they sell more of these hockey balls to pet owners than hockey players!

Anyways, I found one at target for $8 and we used it tonight. Here's my comments (if anyone cares!)

    1) It DOES light up nice and bright with two flashing LEDs inside. You can't replace the battery, but they say it lasts for 100 hours of play time.

    2) It's harder/heavier than a normal hockey ball, which has two drawbacks: It bounces a bit more and it hurts more when it hits you!

Bottom line, if you play at dusk/night, it's a good buy, but it COULD be a bit better of a ball.

LOL! I'm going to go to the local dog park and see if I can't get in a game

Glad the info helped. When you gotta play, you gotta play!

Not to offend you or anything ... but my deaf dog loves those balls. He can't hear them bounce, but chases the lights around!! Great invention. Never even thought to use them for anything else!!
