2005 World Inline Cup Announced
Hi Folks,
Here is the latest news from Canada Inline:
CHATHAM, Ontario, Canada - Canada Inline, the National Governing Body for Inline Hockey, member of the Canadian Olympic Committee and proud member of the Federation of Roller Sports (FIRS) announces today that the 7th Annual World Inline Cup will be located in Taylor, Michigan, USA July 18-24, 2005.
??This is the first time that Canada Inline has taken the event outside of Canada and we are looking forward to a great event in Taylor, Michigan, USA, only 20 minutes from the Detroit International Airport and 20 minutes from the Windsor, Ontario, Canada border crossing,? says Dave Easter, President CEO of Canada Inline. ??Look for future World Inline Cups being staged around the world,? he added.
The Taylor Sportsplex, featuring four full size rinks with Ice Court Flooring will be the home of the 7th Annual World Inline Cup. The World Inline Cup features teams from around the globe and has become the ??Ultimate Player Experience? for those that attend to participate or watch.
Age divisions from 10U to 21U,open men and women will compete in six round robin games and then are re-seeded into A, B and C Championship Pools for the medal rounds. With Opening and Closing ceremonies where all teams march in under their own country flag, skills competitions, tours and off-surface events planned this becomes a mini Olympics for many of the teams from around the world.
Team Ontario, Ontario Selects, Alberta Selects, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, BC, Team USA (four teams per age division), Australia, Great Britain and many of our Asian Federation friends will all return with teams to compete and build friendships that will last a lifetime.
With the entire event under one roof the event organizers are confident the atmosphere that has been created in the past will be recaptured once again in Taylor, Michigan. ??We lost some of the atmosphere that was created in the past in 2004 when the event was hosted in London, Ontario, at three different venues," says Cheryl Vinnai, National Director of World Inline Cup for Canada Inline. ??It was our objective for 2005 to ensure the event would be in a venue that would host all games, ceremonies and special events so players and parents would have the ability to watch all games and enjoy the 'International Festival Atmosphere' that has become the hallmark of the World Inline Cup. Once we toured the Taylor Sportsplex we knew this was the ideal venue to host the 2005 World Inline Cup.?
More information will become available over the next few weeks on the Canada Inline Website under World Inline Cup 2005.
