Much Love to Justin

Naz was in a car accident tonight. He hit a deer and wrecked his car. He told me that the deer may have already been hit be the car in front of him and was hopping and flailing around in the road and BAM he hit it.

Having not been in an accident before, he seemed to be a bit stunned and managed to get his car home (he was very close to home when it happened). He told me he hit the stearing wheel and was a bit messed up, and I DEMANDED that he go to the hospital (have mom take him). Last conversation he PROMISED me he was going - concerned of broken ribs and or/punctured lung from what he described.

Justin - you better be ok!
and to all you men out there - do you really need us ladies acting like moms and girlfriends and forcing you to go to the hospital????

Hey Justin,

Sorry to hear about your accident!

(I nearly hit an elk a year ago this time in Washington State -- which would have made my Jeep into a compact car.)

If you consider hitting a deer at 65 mph "fast food," you MIGHT just be a redneck deer hunter.

Get better soon, amigo!

Hey Naz I just read about this and hope your ok! I was wandering why I didn't see you around the rink last night. Hope you took Rebecca's advice and got checked out. Things are more serious when you let them fester. Take care Naz.

Richard nice Red Neck joke!

Hey thanks all

I in fact did have a close encounter with Bambi last night. I was driving down a narrow back road around 10:30pm and came upon it kind of flailing around halfway in my lane and halfway in the middle, and even though I slammed on the brakes I didn't have enough time to stop. I couldn't get around it so I just positioned the car to go over it, but that didn't really work too well I guess. I at least damaged some of the brackets and the exhaust pipe, and some other stuff that is hanging down, and I have a few bruised/cracked ribs that I really don't know how that happened. I'm assuming either the seat belt or the steering wheel. I've had this type of injury before, and in fact I think it is the same ribs as before which were probably never fully healed from the first time (of course I didn't go to the doctor for that either).

Yeah I hate doctors and hospitals, I would rather gut it out. But they gave me some nice painkillers [grin] so I'm glad I went. Thanks Rebecca for forcing me to obtain these wonderful miracles of medicine.

The good news is that aside from a little rest and relaxation, I should be back to full strength within the week, minus a little mobility while the bruising settles down.

Considering it was a deer, could have been a lot worse! I'd hate to see what happened to the car that hit it the first time.

Naz,

If you remember I cracked my Ribs back in September and it was not fun. Just heal up first. Life is more important than a game. The game will be here waiting for your triumphant return.

LOL triumphant. I wish!

This won't have any bearing on PIHA. I'll be ready. In fact, I'm going to try and continue running sometime this weekend. Lifting is out of the question right now.

Hope things get better quick Naz..Simon sends his best also....

One time on the way up to canada, there was a bear lying across the road..must have fallen off a hunters truck because it did not appear too mangled....However it insisted on taking up most of the lane I was in in my old T-Bird Supercoupe...so at 75 mph, rather than risking a barrel roll from hitting it with only one front tire in a failed attempt to completely avoid it, I took it straight on.....Anyone remember "Dukes of Hazard"?

Must have cleared 50' in the air before hitting the pavement....serious warpage underneath, but managed to limp up to my dad's about 2 hours away. A few strategically placed bandages to keep the car from bleeding to death and I decided to try to wobble home for more serious repairs two day later.

About 25 miles North of where I had had the first adventure, I came around a corner about 50 mph to find a whole herd of deer holding a meeting in the middle of the road....I turned on the windshield wipers and plowed through...[not exactly] rearanging the upper structure of the car as badly as the undercarriage already was.....

I do not know who was more non plussed..the deer, my then sleeping ex wife who decided to wake up as we hit the customs offices(1/4 mile south of the "kill zone"), and began cursing at the customs agents who she assumed from her dead sleep had some how inflicted all this new damage, or the customs agents who were being so soundly accused.....

Bleeding from many orifices(the car), with bits and pieces falling off, and neither door opening more than 8" we crawled home for repairs....I can sympathize...luckily or unfortunately depending on your bent, all the damage was to the local wildlife, and none of us were injured....

Sorry if I appear somewhat hardened to the fate of the local fauna, but if those deer and bear refuse to wear florescent jackets, and then hold public assemblies or fall asleep in the middle of the road, I do not feel we can be held responsible....

A week later, the insurance adjuster kept looking hard at me to make sense of the convoluted explanation I tried to concoct to make this damage seem like it happened from just one incident instead of two....

But, officer, there were 2 bears...one went high and the other went low....I was fearing for my life!!! What an adventure. Only close call I ever had was coming back to Va Beach from a Williamsburg practice about 11:30 at night. Came out of a small foggy patch to face a stag standing right on the middle line of the 2 lanes. Just drove by and he, thank goodness, stayed still. So, the "deer in the headlights" thing is true, eh?

Thankfully he did not insect under the car where clumps of bear fur were still attached....

the important question is...

were the eyebrows in anyway damaged. I receive countless emails from the growl website asking for a nazarenko bobblehead night complete with to scale eyebrows and of course painted toe nails. Hope everything is okay buddy.
