    Road Trip Delay

Early this morning Richard Graham had an unfortunate auto accident on his start of the Road Trip. Richard is OK, mostly cuts, scratches and bruises. His most serious injury was a scalp wound closed with four staples! Unfortunately the RAV4 is probably totaled, and his lap top was crushed and he cannot update the site at present. He is able to receive e-mails via AOL's Mobile Communicator. Richard expects to have new updates within a week.

Send Rich my best wishes. He's a hockey player, I am sure he is use to staples and stitches. It is good to hear that he is ok.

    Re: Road Trip Delay

    Hi Folks,

I had hoped to have a story on site by now describing my car accident on May 3, but have run into a few snags.

Basically, I'm OK. As my friend Ancient Inliner said, I did have a few cuts and bruises, but I'm convinced my seatbelt saved my life.

I was on my way toward Las Vegas to stop in at the TORHS regional there when I fell asleep at the wheel. I was awakened by the sound of the gravel at the side of the road, and did my best to control my car but couldn't -- my RAV4 rolled and then slid on the hood and then sides. One axle was found 75 feet from where the car came to rest. Holes were ground into the hood from the friction of the road.

I lost my laptop and camera equipment, which were thrown free of the vehicle and then run over by traffic going the other way.

Right now, I'm dealing with car insurance to replace my RAV4, and renter's insurance to try and replace my laptop and camera gear.

I'm working out of a Kinkos copy center at the moment, and hope to be back on the road soon -- maybe even tomorrow with a rental car, so I can cover the Rinko de Mayo tournament in Las Vegas.

Thanks for your concern and support. The IHC 2001 North American Tour WILL continue.

    Sincerely,

    Richard Graham
