Miracle on DVD

well I watched it for like the 6th time. I still can't get over what an awesome movie. Did you all get the DVD? $12 at Walmart comes with a 2nd DVD with special stuff.

We were doing the "steam - no steam - steam" commentary when Patty brings Herb hot chocolate at the iceskating arena where they take the kids. It was funny.

OK, need some cheery posts! The posts on the pro-forum are stressing.

    Re: Miracle on DVD

I remember seeing promos for the movie that had the F word in a locker room scene-something like "the rest of your f-ing lives" but I NEVER saw/heard that scene at the movies. Did Janet Jackson do that? Is it on the DVD version? It should not have offended anyone associated with ADULT hockey and if it was a true quote...

Yeah, I want to get that movie soon. (I have a feeling I'll get it as a graduation present) =) What does "steam" or "no steam" mean?

    Re: Miracle on DVD

nothing really. Its just a scene in the movie where we picked up a nitnick/bad edit. Herb and Patty are drinking hot chocolate and one second it is steaming and the next it isn't, then it is, then it's not. These are the things you nitpick about when you watch a movie so many times. You might as well watch it frame by frame when you love it enough (which I have been known to do)

    another Question

like most movies, if you really get into the heart of the story, you ought to read the book...Eruzione on the captaincy, Brooks on speed, East-West movement, and just about everything else...

while Kurt Russell really had me thinking I was watching the original again, the book gives you insights about the very things you liked in the movie...

I asked our local kids the question, "What did Herb Brooks finally do with his gold medal." The answer gives you further insight into the movie's final scenes, and the coach himself...

    Re: another Question

Herb Brooks did say that in the locker room before the gold medal game. It is on the HBO dvd about the 1980 team. I did not hear it on the dvd but i have not watched the extras yet. The only thing i disliked was Disney toning the language down a little.

    Re: Funner Question

    Hi Rebecca,

I thought the movie was great, but I could have done without the "domestic drama." To me, that was in it to make the movie interesting for women who were dragged to the movie by their husbands:

"You made me see 'First Wives Club," so now you gotta see this." LOL.

The one thing in the movie that affected me was when Ralph Cox was cut. He played for the University of New Hampshire, and I saw him play when I went to UNH for a semester on an exchange program from San Diego State University. He was the team star.

(I'll never forget how the other teams were greeted when the starting lineups were named -- the UNH fans went nuts when the UNH players were named... and when the opponent's players names were called, everyone gave ONE clap at the same time. It was hilarious.)
