#1 skate on the market?

What is the best skate on the market, price not being an object? I have a set of Bauer Vaopr 8 ice hockey skates with a bauer hi-lo frame and labeda gripper wheels on ABEC 7's right now, but the footbed of the boot has given up the ghost as it has too many rivet holes from switching from ice to roller and back again.

I need something extremely light, extremely stiff and extremely strong. Maybe even the Vapor XX's and a good frame would work.

There is an earlier post on this regarding the Mission D-Limited model that came out in severely limited quantities last year.

Ever held a skate in your hand that was the strongest and yet lightest at the same time?

Rather than the usual trade-offs between materials, construction and price, Mission tried out the concept of actually manufacturing a skate with no price limitations.

If you can still find a pair in your size, you don't want to buy anything else until you have held one of these babies.

Original MSRP was $699, but I have seen them during the past year for as low as $399...

My Vapors are still the lightest strongest skates I have held. I know the new vapors are even an upgrade. I need the lightness for my skating and the strength, cause I have a habit of taking many shots off my skates(on purpose). The Vapors are strong enough that I can take a direct hit, even in the lesser padded areas and have no stining, bruising or anything like that at all. Truly a tank.

These Mission-D's hmmmm. I'll gladly spend the money to get the best skates I can find.

honestly I will probably build again with a good hi-lo frame and either a Vapor 10 or XX ice hockey skate. I just feel they are stronger than the roller versions of skates.

If your used to the Bauer skates then try the new Nike Hi-Ho silver skates. Our organization just switched over to the Nike Hi-Ho Silver skates and the guys love the skates. Skate with them right out of the box without blisters or haveing them heat molded. They are light and extremely comfortable. They come with the Abec 9 bearings and Dynasty wheels. We've been skating on the Hi-Ho skates for about 2 months and the only complaints is that the wheels don't last. The guys say that the boot is the most comfortable they have worn.

Do they still make the plain old white labeda gripper wheels? I have had mine for 4 years at least. Indoor only, playing pretty much year round.

I was reading some of the other posts from a few months back and some were saying that the 2004 Mission D1-c's are better than the 2003 D-limiteds Any truth to this?

First off if you want to piece together a pair of skates don't take the frame from the Hi-ho. Redstar makes a newer lighter frame and is string. http://www.hockeymonkey.com/redstaralloychas.html

Next, the D-1 and the D-1c's are both outstanding skates. I personally know several people that have D-1's and they say they are the best skates they have ever skated on. I can only imagine with missions reputation that the D-1c's must be a step up.

If your still looking for the best skate on the market check out Tours brand new stuff! If I didn't have a almost brand new set of Tour G-90's I would be first in line to get a pair of the Beemers. They got a new Labeda frame with all 80mm wheels for max speed but 2 wheels are recessed into the boot to give you the advantage of a Hi-Lo frame. With new wheels also from Labeda these skates are unbeatable. This question is when and where can they be bought and how much are they?

I ended up with the following(all new):
Boot: Bauer Vapor 10(Ice Hockey 2003 model)($220)
Frame: Red Star Silver E-frame($50)
Bearings: Predator ABEC 7($16)
Wheels: Redstar MX something or other($20 shipped for all 8).
Thing is a tank. So solid and light. Already taken 2 shots off of them and you bearly feel anything. Had them baked too. Feel like I have been wearing them for years!!!!!
