    Equality!!!! what a concept.

After reading today's announcement on the home page of this site, I just wanted to say "thank you" to Dave Easter for persevering through some difficult times to make this happen for the Canadian sport.

It looks like Canada just got what everybody else really wants. A strong, unified, national governing body for inline hockey in partnership with, but not subjugated to, our ice hockey cousins.

Equality!!!! what a concept. What a great day for Canada.

    Good Topic for Debate

    Hi John,

I found it mighty interesting news, especially as to how it might pertain to USA Hockey and USA Hockey InLine. What is the ice hockey connection doing for inline hockey in the USA? Will USAHIL also break away from USA Hockey at some point in the future? Are ice hockey "good old boys" holding the inline game back as some have claimed? How about you, IHC readers, what do you think?

    Sincerely,

    CHI

It's good to hear that CHI is now able to spread their wings and leave the nest. As with all spring chickens, there is a growing phase that will be encountered. This separation may be an opportunity to develop inline hockey as its own sport with its own philosophy etc. It is an exciting time when new programs, ideas, policies and concepts can be implemented. I can appreciate the role the ice hockey had, but its time to go it alone. I wish Dave and CHI the best. I know that our league will be interested in how CHI will do.

In spite of the fact that ice hockey and inline hockey share the same "hockey" name, it is still a different sport. I think that inline should be treated as a different sport. There doesn't appear to e such a debate with ball hockey ... that I am aware of (even tho. I am admittedly naive with ball hockey).

It's going to be exciting. I'm looking forward to it!!!

    Re: Good Topic for Debate

I definitly think that USA Hockey is holding USA Hockey Inline and the roller hockey as a whole as the #2 sport far behind the world of ice hockey. It would be nice to see roller hockey in the US take some notes from our neighbors to the North (canada) and let roller hockey finnally have its chance to be numero uno!!! Weigh the options.......sportcourt VS ice......discuss!!

    Re: Finally

After 2 years of being happy with NIHA and 4 years of being unhappy with CHI, I am looking forward to the 2001 season. Good luck CHIA.

    Rip:
Your team must be from Ontario! because thats the only place that CHI did anything! The Teams and Leagues out west got nothin from CHI. Now that the Canadian Hockey dissmissed the CHI,it will find its dismay in the West! Unless they set up somekind of western Canadian Branch. Because we desperalty need more promotion out this way! And the CHI wasn't helping.

    Re: CHI

Maybe an email/letter to CHI would benefit. It's a chance to make changes.

    Kordy:

We have a long way to go up here! most of our leagues play on polished concreate, and if you have roll-on your lucky! Sport court is very rare up here! I think that is one of the reasons it hasn't totally taken off. Sport court improves the game 110% I think the CHI could takes noted on how to run an organiztion, and maybe then we'll excel! because Canada has the talent and enthusiasm to be a domniating force in the Sport!
