1. ESF/NVQ Update Additional Dates Announced
Due to demand in the North West, London and Midlands an additional 4 courses have been arranged in 2004 at Birmingham 17-19 March, Surrey 14-16 April and two in Northwich 31 Mar-2 April and 28-30 April.
The 3 remaining courses scheduled for 2003 (Durham 5-7 Nov, Basildon 19-21 Nov and Beverley 3-5 Dec) still have few places available on each. If you are considering attending any of these 3 courses and have not yet registered your interest, please do so either by the web form under the ESF section on the IHCTS web site http://www.ihcts.co.uk or by emailing [email protected]
The change of course venues announced last month from Cambridge to Harlow in Essex and from Cheltenham to Oxford has seen the places available taken very quickly. Again, there are still a small number of places available but if you are considering attending any of these 2 courses please contact us as above as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
Out of the original 250 places that the ESF funding we received provided for, less than 80 places are now left. To ensure your place is reserved on one of the courses you should contact us as soon as possible. For a full list of dates and venues visit the IHCTS web site and click the ESF button on the left.
We have been asked to clarify the criteria for attending one of the FREE training courses and taking advantage of the monies we have received from Europe for this project. Basically there are 2 criteria, 1. you need to be 16 by the end of the project date (31/12/04) and 2. because NVQs are primarily practical based qualifications, you should either be currently coaching or intend to start coaching in the sport. There are no restrictions depending on which association your club or body belongs to, ANYONE can participate.
2. NVQ Standards Change
The Sports Coaching NVQ Level 2 comprises 5 units and over the Summer the standards relating to these have been changed. We believe it is now easier to actually gain the qualification because 2 of the units which related to supporting the coaching process now relate specifically to preparation and conducting coaching sessions which are primary functions of coaching. A summary of the changes will be updated on the IHCTS web site within the next 7 days but if you would like to see these changes before then please email us at [email protected]
3. New Zealand Coaching Courses
As referred to in previous newsletters, New Zealand IHA have adopted the IHCTS coaching program. The first three Level 1 courses have now been completed and our congratulations go to the attendees who now have their Level 1 accreditation. Further details will appear in future issues of our newsletter.
