USA Doing Good @ IIHF, Poor Coverage
I don't know if many of you are following how the USA is doing at the IIHF Inline Hockey world championships, but they are doing good. They won there grouping, edging Czech Republic in OT, beating Sweden by a goal, and then a whomping on Austria. However, the IIHF's website's coverage of the Worlds sucks, when it comes to our grouping. There are no pictures, the game summary's are done a day later, however, if you are following Slovakia, Japan, or any other team who is not in Group A, the coverage is great.
Does anyone know why this is? I mean you would think that they would cover the better groups a little more than the lesser groups, but things should at least be equal.
Sorry, I needed to vent.
Thanks,
Josh

Re: USA Doing Good @ IIHF, Poor Coverage
Not sure about the answer to your valid question, but was curious about the stats a bit - from the IIHF Inline website. Team USA has faced 119 shots on goal if my math is correct vs, 99 and 97 for Czechoslovakia and Sweden respectively. Also USA has 105 penalty minutes - averaging 35 minutes per game!!! In group A to put things in perspective - the next closest teams are Sweden with 60 minutes, and Czechoslovakia with 49 minutes. This is for 3 games.
That means that while Team USA averaged 35 penalty minutes per game, Sweden averaged ony 20 minutes per game and Czechoslovakia only 16.666 minutes/game. And team USA still managed a win against both these teams.
Sounds like the boys are playing pretty tough, or are getting pretty targeted. Well congrats on the three wins inspite of adversity. USA goaltending may not rule in the stats of GAA, or SVS, but that obviously does not tell the whole story.

Re: USA Doing Good @ IIHF, Poor Coverage
Ya Team USA has had a ton of penalties. Mostly minors, but during the Sweden game they had a ton of Unsportsmanlike penalties, and the only fight I am aware of is Chris Nelson fight some guy from the Czech Republic.
The boys have been strong, and hopefully they will keep it up throught the playoffs.

USA to Play for Bronze
Team USA lost today against Sweden 7-4. More bad penalties near the end of the game by the U.S., allowed Sweden to pull away.
Sweden now plays Finland for the Gold, while Team USA plays Czech Republic for the Bronze, on Saturday.
