Best way to break in a new Goalie Glove?
I've got a Tour Lexur 400 goalie catcher...Trying to figure out the best way to break it in w/o having to go to the rink and just play with it...was thinking maybe holding it closed and rubber-banding it or something...let me know!

I've heard of guys doing that...also heard 'bout guys folding and securing it, then gently running over it with a car! Guess it depends on how brave you are!!!

OK...the car sounds a bit extreme...I think I'll just tie it tight with rubber bands or string or something...that seems a lot safer!

I would agree!! The rubber bands thing is good - can always put it under something lighter than a car for a bit more "umph".

Play with it so that it's wet. Stick pucks in the palm and one in the top of the webbing (like snow a snow cone catch. it keeps it rounded) close the glove tight around the pucks and tie it with a skate lace or if you have a big enough rubber band that will work as well. Stay away from running your gear over with a car unless you can afford new gear every year. By the way, dont use any oils or anything either, just sweat and maybe some water. by the way, glad to see you finely got some gear. Good luck!

Yeah...most definitely...My youth pastor helped me out along with some friendly strangers...so now I'm set. I'll do the whole tying of string thing, too...

my girlfriend skate baked her catch when she got a new one recently and she was real happy with the results... Give that a try... she heated it and wore it till it cooled down and it formed to her hand...

The way i have broken a gaolie glove in is take 4 pucks and tape them together with white tape and stuck them in the glove and tied a shoelace around it and left it like that for about a week. Then used it and did it again.

All this advice is great, and I'm no goalie (anymore). But my dad is, and I started out as one. I also played first base in baseball, so I've broken in a few gloves. I'd say the best way, is do the old puck and string thing. I never tried any greases or oils, although I used to squirt the palm with water. After I would have the glove tied up I'd stick it under my matress for a while, around a week. Then take it out and it worked good.
I wouldn't reccomend running over it with a car! I did that last summer with my first basemens mitt, afterwards I couldn't get my hand inside!
