Anything on the west side?
I mean like West Coast or anything...I don't know...maybe I'm stuck in the wrong site or in the wrong place myself! I'd really like to play roller hockey for bigger and better things than just the league cup or something like that...let me know if anyone knows anything.

Re: Anything on the west side?
Not to be rude, but I have no idea what you are talking about. Are you asking is there big tourneys on the west coast?
-
Re: Anything on the west side?
Yeah, pretty much...where I play I never hear of anything and since I can't afford the travel, maybe that's why...but I just never hear of any tournaments here in Arizona.

Chipotle Hockey?
Drew:
You have already noticed that this board/site has a large following in the Northeast/Midwest part of the country. This, even though Richard Graham, it's owner, is based in Southern California.
I have made several e-friends over this board the past six months, so I'm kidding a lot of people I whom like when I say, "...it just looks like all the folks on this site are from the East, probably because they all have big mouths and are highly opinionated..."
Welcome to the board...as we get more events in El Paso, we will keep you apprised...this should be happening this fall, following the opening of our grand new building...
catch ya later...

Re: Chipotle Hockey?
Thanks for the info, Danny.
And yeah, I'd sure as hell like to start playing some more hockey...took the summer off to find gear (and the job that never came through)...
Keep me informed and thanks!

Yeah I dont hear much about the tourneys in Az. either, but good luck.

Re: Anything on the west side?
Where do you live out there? My grandma lives in Phoenix (Sun City to be exact) and there is a rink about 5 minutes from her house.
-
Re: Anything on the west side?
Yeah...you're probably talking about RollerPlex (I live in Glendale, 5 minutes away from Phoenix or Sun City). I've tried playing their one season...didn't like it too much, but it's all we really have besides the Glendale Rec leagues I play in (which still offer good competition I suppose). Pricing for a goalie @ RollerPlex, though, is nice since it's cheaper...just need the gear!

Re: Anything on the west side?
I think I do, I've never been there myself, we are going out to visit her this summer, do they have drop-ins or anything? Also do they have a website?
-
Re: Anything on the west side?
Yeah...it's just www.rollerplex.com and their drop-ins change monthly...just check the site and you should be good to go. It's normally pretty busy, too, but a lot of fun.

Re: Anything on the west side?
The state of Arizona, smack in the middle of the Sonora desert geographically, is certainly unique in both its land and its people...the only place in the world where the Seguaro Cactus grows (that two armed green "sentinel-type: if you see a post card from Texas with one on it, they don't grow in Texas!) and one of the first states where the rink operators banded together to form a state association, the Arizona Inline Hockey Association (AIHA).
Please make no mistake about it, this organization is not operated by it's players, but by the rink owners. They are very insular, and have very little to do with anybody outside the state. They will tell you that they have TORHS, Pacific Cup, NARCh, and the like, as far as events go. These, of course, are all events that rink operators make top dollar on.
Hey, this is a state that refuses to go on daylight savings time, for heavan's sake...
I do not expect Arizona to get with USA Hockey Inline, or anybody else, and establish a firm relationship for the growth of the sport, anytime soon. They certainly haven't for the past 7 years.
Uh, Drew, isn't Randy Exelby's store in west Phoenix??? Wall-to-wall goalie stuff, including used, although it might be predominantly heavier ice stuff...
Good luck, keep in touch...
