    What happened to...

What happened to the separated message boards for MLRH and PIHA? Just curious?

    Hi DC,

With another pro league on the scene, I didn't want to add yet another message board. So far, people seem pleased to be able to talk about all the pro/semipro leagues in one place.

Hey Flynner misses the seperate forums. It's gonna be tough once they all get going at the same time.

    Re: What happened to...

As a lot of the issues may be common to each, it may be better to have all the posts under the same heading - may get more play on the issues.

New leagues will be dead in a few months anyway.

It really ain't like you'd think...

ya know, when I worked as a Recreation Therapist Tech for the local state mental institution, the absolute "worst" thing that could happen to you is to have a patient, under your supposed supervision, leave the premises, and go awol with out medical release. To have somebody "escape" while under your supervision was generally thought to put your job in jeopardy, even.

At one point, I noted to the administration that, if we were indeed following the law, and good therapeutic judgement, in providing the recovering mental health patient with "the least restrictive environment," we were bound to have some runaway individuals. In fact, if we "erred" on the side of caution in considering whether an individual patient was ready to leave the restricted living units, then we were certainly not providing "the least restrictive environment." Since I made that presentation, I personally had no runaways, and the threat of job loss was never mentioned by anybody I worked with. But the program as a whole did indeed have several incidents over the two years I worked. Every single time, we could trace the incident to the therapy team decision to let somebody progress into a less restrictive supervision than they were perhaps ready for.

It is a measurement of progress, and solid progress at that, in our sport, for all these league organizations to continue to try to achieve success, especially in the face of all the doubters, naysayers, and especially those who would criticize, but will never pitch in to be a positive force themselves.

Keep up the good work, all you guys who are trying to make the dream come true for yourselves, and all of us, too...

Dear "life of the party" I suppose you never cross bridges either - you just know they will fall down before you can reach the other end - if one has, they all will.
