Ladies & Gentlemen,

Welcome to the 2000-2001 season of the Mid-Atlantic Region and the 4th year of existence for the ECRHA. It is the beginning of September and programs are already gaining steam as we head full-bore into this season's events. The ECRHA would like to take this opportunity to welcome back all those veterans and hello to all the new faces in the crowd.

Topics for the latest edition of the newsletter include info on the Rave & Roll Fest, Help Wanted Ads, new Women's Division, MAR Schedule, East Coast Collegiate Championships, WPACRHL, and the MAR Annual League Meeting. Enjoy!

1. Mid-Atlantic Region Active Club Committee Annual League Meeting

On September 9th at 2:00 pm the MAR will be hosting it's Annual League Meeting in Williamsport, PA, at the Williamsport YMCA. Topics to be
discussed include:

-Qualifying for Nationals
-Budget
-Schedule
-Playoff Format
-Restructuring Constitution & Bylaws
-New Website
-Uniforms (H&A and consistent numbers)
-A & B rosters and movement
-Divisions

The ECRHA will be picking up the tab for hotels on Saturday evening. The meeting will run from 2:00 pm to 10:00pm with a break between 5:00 pm and 7:00pm for dinner. Clubs interesting in participating in the MAR are invited to send a representative to attend the meeting. Please email Jonathan Huck at [email protected] to make reservations for the meeting.

2. Move Over Guys!

Formation of ECRHA's Women's Division Officially Announced...

Welcome to the next generation of the ECRHA....the addition of the women's division! Currently, there are only three women's collegiate teams in the United States, the University of Florida, University of California-Davis, and Elon College (NC). However, there is a new women's team forming at Penn State, which will hopefully spark a trend at college campuses across the ECRHA...

4. East Coast Collegiate Championships Set For October 6-8, 2000

The Mid-Atlantic Region of CRHL (ECRHA), in conjunction with the Southeast Region of the CRHL, will open up the 2000-2001 season by hosting the East Coast Collegiate Championships (E3C) at the Gretzky Roller Hockey Center in Cary, NC....

5. Rave & Roll Sports & Music Festival To Open At Penn State University

On Sunday, October 1, Penn State will play host to the first scheduled stop of the Rave & Roll Sports & Music Festival. The Rave & Roll Sports & Music Festival is an outdoor, one or two-day roller hockey and music festival combining live bands, a roller hockey tournament, skills competitions, equipment demos, open skating, bubble and air hockey tournaments, an exhibition game between pro's and Penn State's roller hockey team, and music and roller hockey exhibitors...

6. Western PA Collegiate Roller Hockey League (WPACRHL) To Open Season on October 5

The WPACRHL, a Local-Area League of the ECRHA, will begin play on October 5 at the Island Sports Center on Neville Island, outside of Pittsburgh. Registration deadline for collegiate roller hockey clubs is September 22. For more information, please contact Fred Shrayber at [email protected]


7. Help Wanted

The ECRHA is currently looking to fill the following positions:

A. Senior Executive (Business Mentor) - Work with league board to ensure
stability and growth of the ECRHA. Will advise Chairman as necessary.

B. Lawyer - Advise ECRHA on pertinent legal matters.

C. (2) Graphic Designers - Create and implement new visual material for the
web page. Must have experience with graphics software, especially using
jpeg and gif formats.

D. (2) CGI Programmers - Create message board, chat room, and intranet for
the web page. Experience using ASP, Java, Perl, and related languages
necessary.

E. Message Board/Intranet Administrator - Oversee usage of aforementioned
areas. No programming experience necessary; all maintenance will occur
through a graphical interface.

8. More Help Wanted... ...Photographers & Journalists Needed!

The ECRHA is in need of volunteers with digital cameras/digital video cameras. Interested individuals should contact Jonathan Huck at [email protected] for more information. Volunteers will take pictures or video of league games for use on the ECRHA web site and in promotional information and productions.
