Not sure if many people have heard about the new Easton SyNthesis shaft/blade lineup. The SyNergy Si-Core seems to be getting all the hoopla so here's some info.
In essence the SyNthesis is a two-piece SyNergy. It weighs 300 grams, tapers down about 8 inches towards the bottom of the shaft and only will accept the short hosel SyNthesis blade. Sound familiar? It should. It's basically replacing the T-Flex. The big T-Flex disadvantage was the lack of blade selection. If you wanted a graphite blade, your only choice was the Drury curve. The SyNthesis blades will be available in the normal Easton retail patterns (Shanny, Yzerman, Sakic, Modano, Lidstrom) as well as the new Iginla curve. The blades weigh 145 grams. So if you do the math, the whole 2-piece unit ends up weighing 5 grams less than the new SyNergys. The shaft is available in reg. and grip.
I was able to get ahold of an early one and I think it's a pretty good stick. Feels nearly the same as a T-Flex. A little tough to get used to after using a one-piece for a few months. It kicks pretty good for wristers/snaps but my slappers felt a little funky with it. The 100 flex feels like an 85 and I've heard a 110 flex user say it feels like a 110.
Overall, I think it's worth it if you like the SyNergy but blow out the blades on them or you were a T-Flex user. Supposedly the SyNthesis blades WILL fit into a T-Flex shaft and vice versa.
Last I heard is that the SyNthesis shafts will be $119.99 for the reg. and $129.99 for the grip. The SyNthesis graphite blades will be around $49.99 supposedly. There will also be SyNthesis hybrid blades.
SIDE NOTE: Louisville is doing something similar. They are having a shaft/blade combo called the "R2". Same idea as the SyNthesis except it's basically a 2-piece Response.
