There has been a lot of talk about the pros and cons of Lindenwood University's roller hockey program, but their team last weekend made the biggest statement for the sport of college roller hockey. The Lindenwood University team played in the Tour Christmas tournament and defeated the top pro team in the country, Tour Mudcats, twice by the scores of 2-1 in round robin play and 8-4 in the championship game. These games gave instant credibility to the sport of college roller hockey. It showed that the college game has a good product to offer. In talking with people who are influential in the sport of roller hockey in the midwest, they made it clear that this was a big statement for our program and college roller hockey. So instead of griping about Lindenwood, lets be pro-active and work with them in trying to improve your program and the sport. I know they have done a lot of things to help their situation not only in school support, but in recruiting and they would be happy to help and answer any questions that any other program might have. To contact them call or e-mail Derek Schaub at (636) 949-4945 or dschaub@lindenwood.edu

Thanks

Lindenwood is located in St. Charles, MO which is basically a suburb of St. Louis. The campus is about 15 minutes from St. Louis (Lambert) International Airport.

Derek

Just out of curiousity, i was wondering what your opinion would be as to what teams in the midwest, or in fact that matter would actually be giving some type of "financial aid" or "scholarships" out within the next 10 years. Due to numerous months of entertainment of why schools cannot give out scholarships, why do you think you can get the CRHL to that level. Lindenwood is in a league of their own, but only due to the "financial aid" aspect of the situation. If it was not for the "financial aid" aspect of your program, do you truly think that youre team would be where they are? As i have said numerous times before, i applaud what you and youre team have done this year, and i hope the growth can continue this year, for years to come, and for all the other teams across the country. On the contrary, lets be real, theres no way in my mind that roller hockey will ever be a "varsity sport" at any D1 school (big ten, big 12, big sky, big west, big south, acc, sec, scc, wac, atlantic, Con. USA, or any other region at that matter)no matter how much money any school can donate to the club. its just not possible....theres too many laws that permit this thing from happening(ex. title IX). please, if theres something that all us screaming college roller hockey players are missing, inquiring minds want to know, i would love to get an $24,000 a year "financial aid/scholarship" sent my way. Thank you for the time, best of luck this season,
