Mission D1 skates

Hey, I just got them in the mail today, and I can confidently say they are much better than my last pair of mission skates,vsi vibes. They are probably the lightest pair of skates, maybe even as light as the wicked lights. Plus they are pretty comfortable, but I hope will be a lot more comfortable when I get them skate baked. I would have put some outdoor wheels on and gone out to skate, but it's snowing like crazy over here :(

I can give you more info when I really get the chance to break them in, but here is what I can tell you after having them for a few hours. The speed is very nice, and that is with regular old abec 7's, I plan to put my mini bearings in and see how it is. Both the turning and stopping were excellent, and that is me skating as fast as I can in my house, trying to avoid tables and countertops. The skates are super light, plus the boot is great. It's like your foot and the boot are one, it conforms to your foot. And the boot is probably a big reason why the turning, stopping and speed were so much improved. I plan to put some outdoor wheels on when it stops snowing here so I can really break them in. The boot is pretty comfortable, my feet started to get a little sore when I first started skating in them, but that gradually stop, nothing a skate bake can't fix. On looks, I like the D1 looks over the G90's. Anyways I hope this helps any questions you had dude10k, I'll let you know more when I get the chance to find out, put it this way they are much better than anything with a vibe on it.

The only reason I got them was because me and the owner are pretty close, and he got in about 10 pairs early and he let me buy one of the pairs, he isn't going to get his shipment for the store (about 35) till December 20th, so you would be better off buying off the internet because you would get them earlier, that is what my brother is doing.

so you recommened them over the G90s? hmm........ I've been debating whether to go D-limited/D-1 or G90 to replace the RTx I've got now......

Does anyone know where I can buy a pair of the new 2003 Mission D-Limited skate. I cannot find a website selling them. If anyone know let me know.

I looked on a lot of sites and couldn't find them anywhere. Maybe you should contact mission and ask them about it, but I as far as I know they are near impossible to find.

I don't know, thye are both high quality skates and I don't think you will be dissapointed either way. My brother swears by the G90's and I with the D1's. If you read the specs on the skates they are very similiar. But like I said they are both real nice, the only reason I went with the D1's is because I slightly prefer missions over tours.

from what I received in an email you cannot buy them on the internet, you need to go to a retailer and ask if they are ordering any.

Yeah its kind of weird about a month ago I saw them listed on I think it was hockeygear.com and now when I click on the link in my favorites it brings me to their homepage. They must of had some confusion about getting them too.

YEAH MAN!!!! guys guess what? the guy from mission came to r rink.and showed the D limited i was like holy shnikeys. tryin to keep my cool. then i talk to him about the D limited. he told me they STOP MAKIN them! u heard me right. he said that the skate boot is like the pure fly ice hockey boot but better and lighter. THEY ONLY MADE 800 OF THE D LIMITED IN THE WORLD. u heard me right again. 800. thats it. and that is y they r called d limited. but here is the good part I MIGHT GET A PAIR. dude i'm so excited. but that is y u guys r having such a hard time finding them. they have to be specially ordered. and the guy said they r already almost all gone. so if u guys want them u have to hurrry and start talkin to people and dealers.

I just got done talking to guy at hockeygiant and he had no idea what the D limited skates are. He thought the "top of the line" were the D1.

right. I have talked to hockeygear.com and they will not get them till March. I called a local pro shop and they will not have them Till January or Feb.

Even so, chances of getting them are slim... only 800 made, thousands of pro shops and online distributors. you guys do the math :(

I just wanted to help clear up any confusion regarding the D-Limited Skates.

True, we are only selling 800 pairs of these. They will hit stores some time in February. Each pair will be numbered and come with a Certificate of Authenticity. The MSRP for these is $499.99. Finally, they will not be sold on the internet, but online dealers will have them in their stores.

Thanks for the info...... when will we be able to place orders for them? I mean, yeah they come out in February, but will we have to order them in advance to assure that we can actually get a pair? I don't want to have to hope that I can find a pro shop with a pair, that just might happen to have my size....

Your local dealer can put orders in now. Each territory is allocated a certain number of pairs. You might want to have your dealer call Mission and put an order in the system.

For your guys's information....some of your info. is wrong. First, the G90 is nothing like the D-1. The D-1 is a superb boot. Ive been skating on the D-1 model since mid-july and although they have made a few stiffness adjustments to the boot since then...it still makes for a great fit. The skate bake really helps alot. The boot and tongue on all the DNA skates form very well to the feet after you bake them. Second, the D-1 and the D limited are completely different boots. The D-lim's are entirely softer and have less stiffeners than the D-1's. Like somebody said before...the D-limited is basically the ice Pure Fly with a lacing adjustment. The new DNA skates have a unique lacing system that pulls the whole side of the boot up and over your foot rather than pinching off the top (like conventional boots). Ive been playing hockey for nearly 11 years now...since I was 8...and Ive skated on several skates. My opinion: Tour skates were the worst skate I had ever been on...I mean I anged the chassis on my boot and the inside of the sole was made of cardboard. Mission skates have always been my favorite...and now with all the extra skating I'm doing these days...the D-1 is REALLY the best boot Ive ever put my feet in. I recommend the D-1 over the D-limited to hockey players who tend to take a bit of a beating every now and then...because the D-lim's are a bit too soft to protect from the shots and slashes that come in the upper divisions. But if your for looks and snaz...go for the d-limiteds. If you need more info...you can talk to the mission guys at Winternationals. I know they'll be lonely. There I said my peace.

I never said the D-1 and the G90 are one in the same. In my opinion if you love mission's and get the D-1, you wont be dissappointed, same with tour fans and the G90's. I have bought Missions since 96' and this is by far one of the nicest skatest for its time. Ever since I got them skate baked it has made it so much more comfortable. And trust me I appreciate the D-1, my last skate was the Vsi Vibe and we all know how great they were. lol

How did you find the sizing to be on these?
I see they have listed a "D" and "EE".
Are the "EE" really much wider?

I noticed the D1's are rated at 6.5 stiffness, whereas the D2's are 5.5.
I currently have an older pair of Missions (Proto VR) which are 5.5 which are still pretty stiff (after playing in them for a few months.
Are the D1's, being 6.5, going to be that much stiff?
It sounds like people suggest to go the skate bake route with them. Would this help?

Defiently get them skatebaked, they are pretty stiff unless you do.

Question: Are the D1s worth the 150 dollars more than the 2002 RMXs? Or should I just save my money and go with last years skate?

It depends, if you need to be tight with money and the vibes do not bother you I guess go with the RMX's. I personally do not recommend vibes. The D1's are one of my favorite skates that I have used, it has a great boot that is very comfortable amd has the DNA boot technology, its a lightweight skate, and has some $100 dynasty wheels on it. Oh and if you have to get skates now or cant afford the D1's I have seen Type M's for $280 on hockeygiant, never used them but I am imagine they better than the RMX's. But you should defiently try to wait for the D1's. I hope this helps you out.

The G-90's are pretty sweet, but I perfer the D-1's.
