I'm really enjoying my new Bauer Vapor 3 skates (except for the blisters/abrasions on the back of my heels, which I assume and which I have been told will dissappear after the skates are worn in).
Anyway, I have a bit of a problem with one of the wheels on the rocker-section of the chassis on my left skate. Before playing my last game, I noticed that the second wheel back from the toe on my left skate (which is the first wheel on the plastic rocker-section of the chasis) was chafing against the metal-section of the chassis (my skates are 2000 models, so they don't have the new all-composite rocker chassis). If I spun the wheel with my hand, it wouldn't rotate freely at all because of the chafing. I played anyway, thinking that it wouldn't be too noticeable and that it might correct itself. It was noticeable, however, but not severly.
So, after playing, I checked to see if anything had changed... but nope. *Then*, I brought them home and noticed, strangely enough, that the wheel is now spinning freely (ie: if I spin all the wheels by hand, they all spin at the same rate... no more chafing). I guess maybe when I put the skates in the trunk of my car or something, the rocker was 'knocked' back into place or something.. I dunno, that's weird. Unfortunately, the problem isn't gone, completely. I can see where the wheel was chafing against the metal chassis, and if spin the wheel and then push the plastic rocker-section of the chassis from the side by that wheel, it'll cause the spinning wheel to again chafe against the metal part of the chassis and stop spinning. None of the other three wheels on the rocker-part of the chassis on either of my two skates exhibit this problem (that is, I've tried pushing the rocker section from the side by all the other wheels, and none of them have enough 'play' in them to allow me to push the wheel against the metal part of the chassis.
Phew, such a long post to explain a fairly straightforward problem :-) Anyway, I've not played on my skates since this, as I'm still waiting for my blisters to completely heal over :-) I'm wondering if anyone with a similar skate has also encountered this. Is it something I should be concerned about (though I suppose I'll probably come to my own conclusion about that next time I play on them)? Is there perhaps some adjustment I should make to the rocker-chassis?
Okay, thanks for taking the time to read this. I'll appreciate any and all responses you might have to this. Thanks!
