I was currently browsing the stats for PIHA, and I noticed that some guys have alot more points than there teammates.

I am just curious about the stat process. I know when we had a team the rink manager would do the stats, Not friends or family. Some guys would have to skate the whole game to have the stats they have. Just wondering.

The officials are the ones who report the stats to the stat person in the box. Jimmy V. retired, so now there are no more phantom assists. Seriously though it's not hard to get stats like that in some of these games.

Another thing I noticed was that not all referees are awarding secondary assists like they are supposed to be. That might be a contributing factor to points distribution being so lopsided.

Yes, this past weekend in Cincy, secondary assists were not handed out as they should have been. Possibly different referee's have a different take on how many assists should be given? There were many nice plays this past weekend, and not everyone was getting credit where credit was earned.

Another thing I have noticed is that in some games the away goaltender gets extra goals tacked on to his stats. But really who looks at stats anyway :)

i think the whole stat tracking system is a joke, points can be given or taken away from at the discretion of the team that submits the form, or from a ref who decided not include secondary assists or credit the right players with points. There is also the case that stats are not being inserted correctly in PIHA's site.

Also that GAA for goalies is a joke. They should either seperate the way that stat is taken between Pro and Minor or have both games run the same length.

Thats my opinion.

Also with the stats, at least for our games, is at the end of the night, the refs both look over our scoresheets to make sure everything is in check as well as to jot down any disciplinary notes. I'm sure this is common practice with all the teams, so as for those stats and guys already having 20 something points, it's definitely possible.

Please either post what this is in refgerence to or PM me so we can get this fixed.

As for the goalie comment: It's not like these stats are different with in the minor league itself. Every goalie plays with the same scenario, so this is a bs complaint.

If people really care that much about stats, then I suggest making sure it is correct when it happens. If your PA guy announces something and it is missing a secondary assist or is incorrect, tell the referee while it is fresh in everyone's mind. People still bust Jimmy V's nuts about this, but he was very conscious of making things accurate in that respect. As long as i knew him, he never took a phantom assist and would go to referees about fixes, when he wasnt even on the rink for a goal. Everyone should make sure these things are correct as they happen.

As for all those who like to email me with corrections. I will not be making any post game edits for players who contact me personally after the fact. Save yourselves the 5 minutes it takes to write that email. Get it right on game night.
