It was just brought to my attention that the PIHA website still has last year's rules. I am attaching the 2007-2008 PIHA Rulebook.

If you send them to one of the guys running the site I'm sure they'll gladly post them up for you!

Well, this probably isn't the thread to post this in, but I'm a little confused on a rule that was called in a game this weekend. This wasn't how it happened in the game, but was how it was explained to me by the ref.
Delayed penalty on team A. Team B sends the puck deep, Team A goalie plays the puck. Ref does not blow whistle, saying that whistle does not get blown when goalie plays it, only when a F/D plays it. Only time whistle can blow for goalie is when a shot is covered in the crease.
I have never heard or seen this before. I got the classic "read the rules" response from the ref, so here goes-
(c) “Possession” shall be defined as the puck having come into possession and control of an opposing player, or having been “frozen.” This does not include a rebound off a goalkeeper, the goal or boards, a deflection or any accidental contact with the body or equipment by an opposing player. The ensuing face-off shall take place at the nearest location or face-off spot to where the play was stopped.
Maybe I'm missing something. I could be wrong, but I'm just looking for some clarification on how the rule should be interpreted.

the only way i could see that happening is if the "goalie playing the puck" looked unintentional. like he made a save, more so than he played the puck. but if he just straight up played the puck to a player or cleared the puck, then that shouldnt have happened

Any and all inquirers regarding rules should be sent to the Referee in Chief for your division. All the contact information can be found at www.thepiha.com (http://www.thepiha.com/) under inside Piha, Piha Staff.
If you are in the Eastern Conference you should address Rick Pohlig or the Western Conference you then should address Tom Micks.

I can't view the PIHA rulebook here at work, but most hockey rulebooks at some points make a differentiation between player and goalkeeper (i.e. that the term 'player' does not always apply to a goalkeeper). The whistle should've been blown, but their may be some scope for the ref to claim confusion over whether the term 'player' is used to refer specifically to floor players or all player types (i.e. floor and the GK)
