Hey guys,

Right now I'm a senior in highschool, and I absolutely love inline hockey. Recently I've been thinking about going to Lindenwood (their hockey program says it all) but I've also been wondering about their school as far as academics go. Anyone have anything to say? I'm looking for everything, the good, the bad, and the ugly. Thanks everyone! If it helps, I'm a very mathematical/ science driven student and am also looking at engineering. Love to hear your opinions.

Thanks again,

Post in the collegiate section of the site and you should probably get a quick reply from someone. Not sure about their academics, but their hockey team is amazing. (They recruit and give out scholarships)

I wouldn't say they give "scholarships", they give anyone good or bad at hockey a deal to go to their university. Its a over priced school that then offers a deal or as you said scholarship to their athletes.

I would also consider some Big Ten Schools. I know they have excellent Engineering Schools. I went to Purdue and we are in the top 10 for Electrical and up near the top of Industrial as well as Aeronautical. I know Michigan, Penn State and Illinois all have top notch Engineering Schools with Illinois and Michigan in the top 10 overall as well, I think.

The Inline at those schools is decent with Penn State, Michigan and Purdue having the better teams. However, beware with Purdue, we did not have a dedicated inline rink. We pracitced in our Armory, which was a smooth concrete surface with no boards and crappy nets. We do have a small inline rink in the Rec Center but it is about half the size but it does have Sport Court.

My suggestion, choose a school that has a good balance of hockey and academics. A majority of people will only play hockey for 4 years and it's not like you can make a living playing roller hockey unless your last name is Yoder. I had an absolute blast at Purdue and met some of my best friends there and not to mention I got a top 10 quality degree, not too shabby for 4 1/2 years of work.

Good Luck!

Thanks guys. Don't worry, I'm not going to school just for hockey, I just want to make sure wherever I go I'll be able to play some puck. Keep the ideas coming, as of right now I have no idea what I'm doing so I'm open to everything.
