I don't think the seeds are based on any kind of strict criteria (although I could be wrong, but I don't think they were last year).

Since there's no great way to gauge seeds coming in to the tournament (and thus no way to balance the pools), there's basically another seeding meeting AT the tournament after RR play is over to determine seeds for the brackets. Everyone makes the bracket.

Think of pool play as a bunch of independent interregional games that can very acutely affect your seed for championship play.

last year i think a committe was used to decide the seeds, im pretty sure that is how its always been done...

From what i hear, the seeding committee meeting after the rr for division 1 is basically a battle by teams to not be the number 2 seed in whatever bracket lindenwood is.

Not sure who you heard that from. Since I've been at the last 5 or so, I can say that I have no recollection of that ever coming up - be it the semis or the finals, you have to face them sometime, and personally I think most teams would rather it be in the semis.

In Fort Collins, the seeding meetings lasted past midnight...that meant teams playing at 7 the next morning didn't find out until it was already too late to get a decent night's sleep.

Last year, the seeding meetings were quick and (I assume) painless....much better.

This was more of a function of what happend during the RR than the way those meetings were run. it just turned out to be easier last year. Fort Collins was extreemely difficult.

Why wouldn't the team just go to sleep at a reasonable hour and plan for the 7am game. Then have a team rep change all your wake up calls to a pre-determined time if you game is scheduled for later in the day? Say you decide you want to be up 2 hours before game time (for example). Just have the rep find out the game time whenever it comes out, even if that is midnight...then go back to the hotel and setup the approriate wake up calls.
