Starting a new club team

Hey everyone, I'm starting a club team here at Ole Miss. Just curious as to what I need to do after we have been recognized as an organization by the university. How soon can we compete in tournaments and what division would we be in?

how strict are the rules concerning team sponsors' logos on jerseys and having matching pants?

anyone can sponsor you but you cant have there name anywhere on your uniform. i think right now the rule is the jerseys have to be identical and the pants have to be the same color

More specifically, here's the rules with sponsors and pants-

Any manufacturers logo on a uniform has to be no more than 16 sq. in. contained withing a geometric shape. No comapny name other than the one who manufactured the uniforms may appear on it. A number of retailers, including Ace Jereys, Concrete Pond, and others all have experience working with NCRHA teams and understand these rules.

As far as pants go, you need to have the same predominant color. Meaning that if everyone has black pants, but some guys have a little bit of blue, and some a little bit of red, technically it's still ok to use. However, it's not all that difficult to find matching pants for cheap. It really makes your team look much more organized and honestly, people will take you a bit more seriously (especially the school). http://www.hockeygiant.com/gearbgdpntsr.html $20 a guy, and you're covered. Well worth the investment, as far as I'm concerned. High quality product and they will custom color match the jersey for you.

HOWEVER, they are very slow. Add to that, they are in Canada so everything has to pass through customs.

All that said, we still bought our jerseys/pants from tham and continue to go back. Just be prepared...they are slow. So next fall when you start to assemble the team, if you wait to order your uniforms until after players have paid their player fee, you won't have them in time for the first event of the season. You won't be the only team in this situation however and as long as you have matching jerseys you will be alright for the first event (even though it looks bush league).

Those are sweet pants. Where did you get them? Any idea on the cost?

We got them through Ace Jerseys, which you can get to through the NCHRA site www.NCRHA.org Our cost was different because of the HUGE amount of stuff that we bought (100+ jerseys, 50+ pairs of pants), but they can give you a general idea on pricing. Just make sure to mention that you will be an NCRHA team. You can design them fairly simple, or go really complex like some teams do. We had Force in past years, but none of our players liked their pants (the lettering on the side came off easily, and they ripped after a few slides on the rink). The jerseys were good quality, and I like the cut and sew numbers. But with a huge amount of freshmen and first year players on the team this season, as well as our school coming out with a new logo and stuff, we decided to update all around.

Some of the other major advantages of using ACE for jerseys as opposed to many other suppliers and manufacturers:

1) Your jersey is digitized and sublimated - it never will go out of production.

2) Especially important for college teams, it's about the same cost to order one jersey a full set - that means that next year when you only have a couple new freshmen, you're not roped into paying a premium for a limited run.
