Hi,
I am a 15 year old roller player and I just have a question for all pro or semi- pro roller hockey players. I was wondering what you did as a young teen to get where you are. Did you practice in your backyard all the time, lift weights, run, sprint ect. Also what tips do you have for a kid my age wanting to go to the next level

Play as much as you can. I used to play 3 times a week at open roller hockey, usually a tuesday and thursday night and maybe a Sunday morning pickup. I also played in a league which was Wednesday nights. Add a lot of ice hockey into the mix as well.

Once I was in college, I scheduled my classes around open ice hockey about 2-3 times a week, as well as continuing with the roller hockey stuff. Ice tends to get expensive, though. I probably would have dropped it in favor of more roller time but I did have some opportunities I was going for. So your situation may vary.

Bottom line; skate as much as you can to improve your skill first and foremost. You can lift weights but be careful with overdoing it at your age. You'd be better off doing distance running and skating to gain endurance.
