First I want to wish the NY Rockers Best of Luck in the championship. Represent !!!
Next, "mini-game" ??? What a joke !!! I really hope the Rockers sweep so that a "mini-game" does not have to be played to decide the "world champion". Can others please comment on this mini-game BS, maybe i'm over reacting.

Other than people involved, does anybody care about the Euro Cup ?

Odd question. When the Wolves were playing for the failed XIHL, could we have asked the same question? Anyone who plays inline should be concerned, if not for the teams involved, but for the sport in general. I personally enjoyed watching the updates and comments of both the XIHL and PIHA leagues. Just to see how inline hockey on the east coast was doing. As far as mini-games go, didn't the XIHL use the same format? By the way, thanks for your "good luck to the Rockers". We hope we represent the U.S.A. well, in winning and losing should that be the case. I had a chance to meet the guys on the Cech squad last time I was there. Great bunch of guys. I heard on the way to the airport, they were singing "We are the Champions". Can you imagine a bunch of barely english speaking guys singing that song? Now that's funny.

no xihl did not use that format... championships should not be decided by a 15 minute mini game... i'm sure most agree
however... good luck over there
i'm not slow, i'm patient

You guys should all care about it.
Cos if Prague beat the Rockers then that's braggin rights for at least another 12 months.
Prague aren't the best team Europe has to offer by a mile. The gap between the US teams and European teams at club level, I don't think is very big and would love to see a full competetion with the best club teams from UK, France, Czech, Finland, Sweden, Canada's provinces and the USA (North, South, East and West)...... but the trouble is with any kind of competetion like this it's all about who can afford all the travel costs, when it's not a fully funded event.

i remember when the i lived back in san jose and the rhinos played the montreal roadrunners for the rhi murphy cup, the championship was decided in a "mini-game". The whole thing had great coverage by espn2 and I thought it was extremely exciting. Of course, the rhinos won.

But if they get to add guys to their roster before and after they get there are they really the "same" New York Rockers that won here? And Roger, weren't you on a roster in the XIHL? I think Kos thought you were.

Of course it could be exciting, but does that crown the true champion ? I posted this topic because I put myself in the Rockers shoes and realized how terrible it would be to have to travel home from the UK, after losing a championship in a mini game.

I got a chance to see Marple and Hartford play, at marple, a few years back, when it went to "game" three...
It definitely offers an odd swing on the "three-game series" claim, but I don't think Marple winning that game was B.S. Game two was very hard fought, and I believe within 2 goals.
Game three had a sort of overtime feel for the crowd, and believe me the crowd was definitely in to it... Everyone was on their feet, glass was lined with spectators, upstairs, and up-upstairs were completely full...
Anyway, my point is, this going to a "mini" game three could be a great experience for building a fan base... everyone loves a sudden death overtime playoff game, and this could supply that in a sport where ties are not very common.

My post wasn't to bash the MLRH, just to question the "mini game". I have nothing against the MLRH and I think the Euro Cup is a cool event. I try my best to support our sport and want to see it grow just as much as anybody else. Sometimes you have to be negative to see long term positive results. I just think a possible mini game to decide a champion is terrible.
Hopefully you guys are singing that song on the way home. Again, Good Luck !

Thank you. We will do our best. If we win, and we sing, I'll send you a copy of the tape. I hope you have strong ears. I've never been know for my singing skills.

Billy you are very right on that one! After losing game 2 by a goal it was like a overtime and thats exactly how it felt. Knowing there is only 15 minutes left in your season every shot and every play was nerve wracking and the place was rocking. BTW, good game tonight.
If you dont hit me im not stopping it.

What is the difference in playing a mini-game and playing an overtime period after the 3rd (or 5th or 7th game) when a lucky bounce decides the winner?

You're so right. Apex Prague was at the narch euro qualifier with their full team and they got their ass kicked.
And they did not played finesse at all like it is said on the mlrh website, they were doing nothing but hitting.
The only good inline players in Czech (like those who plays for the national team) are pro ice players, their inine league is not that good. The european club champion have been from France for the last two years. It would be interesting to see them play against New York.
But it seems that the Rockers are not the best team in the US neither so...
