Well, this probably isn't the right board to post this on, but I need new skates STAT and I need opinions from my fellow players.

My current pair of skates ripped at the boot where the chassis connects. You can probably guess what brand they are.

Anyways, I'm looking at the CCM PF8's and the Tour Beemer's as replacements. I tried the Tour G90's a few years ago, and they absolutely KILLED my arches, even after trying to break them in for weeks. I had to resell them. I've never worn CCM except as an ice hockey skate.

So my questions are this:

Is the Beemer boot like the G series boot? Can I expect the same pain in the arch?

How much breakin time is required for each model? I know I can bake, but are either of the skate models better "out of the box?" Especially coming from Missions, which by all I read I probably won't be wearing again anytime soon. I need to be ready to go on these things in 2 weeks max.

Thanks!

-Naz

I believe the tour beemer boot is not the same as the G90. The G90 was a huge failure for Tour, they tried something and it did not sell. I can not believe that the Mission boot separated, Ha Ha. Everyone that i know that had the Missions have had the same problem. Any way I have The tour Beemers in my shop, what size do you need?

I know it wasnt one of your options but have you tried any of the NIKE brand skates? I wont skate on anything but them, right out of the box they fit well and broke-in in about 3 hours.

Hey guys, thanks for all of the information. I got some great feedback based on this thread and it's just a matter of buying now.

IF YOU CAN HOLD OUT UNTIL SEPTEMBER, TOUR IS COMING OUT WITH THE A NEW TOP-OF-THE-LINE CALLED "CODE 1" ($400). I REALLY NEED NEW SKATES AS WELL, SOMEHOW I'M PLAYING WITH A CRACKED CHASSIS. SOON ENOUGH WITH A BROKEN LEG.
GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR SEARCH.

Yeah, I got wind of them yesterday. Supposedly late July/early August is the tentative release date.

I think I'll just buy a pair of Tours now, and buy the new skates in August too /wtimages/icons/laugh.gif

The beemers and the g-series are totally different. The beemers are like the older skates...Fishbones and 962s. If you skated either of those I'd suggest the Beemers or bluemax.

Im fat, bald, and slow.

No. They're a year and a half old and truth be told, I don't want to bother with the hassle.

I went with Tour, big thanks to CJ and to everyone else who offered their feedback and assistance.

Hey Naz..Simon's been using the Beemers (when he played....) for about 8 months now and loves them, Most comfortable skate he has ever used, inlcuding the Nike's which were also very comfortable...he really liked the chassis too..took a couple of skates to adapt, but them he never looked back.
