Hi Folks,
Here's some news from TORHS America and USA Hockey InLine:
***
TORHS America and USAHIL to join Regional Events May 6th 8th, 2005.
USAHIL National Junior Program Tryout Camp same weekend.
TORHS America is proud to announce the partnership with USA Hockey InLine to host a dual regional qualifier. The two organizations will combine their events to allow teams to qualify for the USA Hockey InLine Nationals, and qualify for the TORHS Nationals. Teams will also continue to add to the ACC (Atlantic Coast Conference) points standings. This is part of the Rink Rat NICC (National Inline Conference Championships). Teams that win the conference will represent the ACC and compete against the other conferences at the TORHS Nationals.
The event will be run by TORHS America and USA Hockey InLine together. All players must have current USA Hockey InLine membership. The officials will be USA Hockey InLine Certified. The age divisions will be TORHS 8U, 10U, 12U, 14U, 16U, 18U, 21U and Adult Pro. Three 10-minute periods will be the game format.
In addition, as part of a big inline hockey weekend in Georgia, USA Hockey InLine will host a National Junior Program tryout camp. The camp is scheduled at The Cooler in Alpharetta, GA, for players ages 15-18. The dual qualifying Regional Event will make every effort to schedule games in the 16U and 18U age divisions so as to avoid overlap with the tryout camp.
"We are both excited and honored to be hosting the first ever TORHS/USA Inline 'Double Qualifier' tournament at the SGAA Dual Decks," said Tommy Melton of the SGAA Executive Board. "We feel this will be a milestone event in inline hockey in that our rink could be the birthplace of a tremendous, awesome partnership. For two of the 'Inline Giants' to join forces can do nothing but make our sport continue to grow and gain national recognition. And that is great for the kids and the future of inline."
"I am happy to work with USA Hockey InLine in effort to show organizations working to improve the industry, and by allowing teams to qualify for both national events helps cut costs for teams, versus playing and paying for two events," said Tony Abbate, president of TORHS America.. "The industry needs to continue to work together so the sport can grow."
USA Hockey InLine is pleased to be able to work out an agreement with TORHS America to hold a dual qualifier at the SGAA Dual Decks Inline Hockey Arena in Snellville, Georgia .
"It is encouraging to see that these two unique organizations can work together for the benefit of the sport," said Gary Del Vecchio, Jr., director of USA Hockey InLine. "We are hopeful that the relationship between USA Hockey InLine and TORHS America can continue to grow in the near future. The tournament will be held May 6th 8th, 2005 at SGAA Dual Decks Inline Hockey Arena the premier facility in Georgia. We are expecting a large turnout, so sign up early to guarantee your team a spot."
