HAIL Welcomes NAIL, its Newest Community League
The Northern Alberta In-Line Hockey Association or N.A.I.L. as it is commonly referred to, is a newly created league for players in the area roughly encompassing Spruce Grove, Stony Plain, Parkland County, St. Albert, Sturgeon County, Morinville and Fort Saskatchewan. However, other players or even an entire team interested in participating are more than welcome.
N.A.I.L. Executive have approached both the Tri-Leisure Centre in Spruce Grove as well as the City of St. Albert regarding surface rental time for the coming season. N.A.I.L. is also eager to book games in other area arenas.
N.A.I.L. Executive are planning to offer both house and competitive or elite level programs for players 8 years old and under up through to adults, including a beginner program (called ?Thumb Tacks?) for youngsters.
?Our philosophy is to promote and develop youth sport in the fast-growing field of in-line hockey and. our mission is to provide well-organized and well-structured play, enhance sportsmanship and provide fitness and fun to all involved,? pointed out N.A.I.L. President, Laura Nichol-Stiksma.
N.A.I.L. is a non-profit association run by volunteers with a board of directors, comprised of individuals with many years of experience in the sport of inline hockey. ?We believe that in-line hockey skills enhance ice hockey performance, and there is a natural transition from one form to the other. We are eager to establish relationships with the minor ice hockey associations in our area for the benefit of their players as well as our association?, commented N.A.I.L. Vice-President, Peggy Lynkowski.
N.A.I.L. is proud to have recently been approved as the newest community member league of Hockey Alberta In Line (HAIL). ?They have embraced us and offered to support our efforts to initiate this league,? according to Nichol-Stiksma. N.A.I.L. Executive plan to form teams to participate in HAIL sanctioned tournaments during the season as well as participating in the programs and opportunities for coaches, officials and high performance players offered by HAIL.
N.A.I.L. plans to hold registration evenings at both the Tri-Leisure Centre and Campbell Arena in February for their inaugural season which will begin in the spring of 2005.
