2005 FIRS Men & Women World Inline Hockey Championships

The French Organizing Committee for the 2005 FIRS Men & Women World Inline Hockey Championships is seeking preliminary interest from all FIRS Federations with regards to their possible participation in World Inline Hockey Championships to be held in Colombes, near Paris, France July 1-July 9, 2005.

Why the change to the Paris suburb of Colombes instead of Grenoble?

Approaching 6 months to the 2005 World Championships, the French Organizing Committee was unable to secure a firm commitment from the city of Grenoble for the required two hockey venues, by which we might conduct both men and women??s championships. Several letters were sent to the Grenoble mayor to break this impasse, without success. We now know that the famous ??Tour de France? cycling competition will pass through Grenoble on July, 10 and 11, very near the dates of our hockey championship, and we must assume that the city of Grenoble has thus lost interest in securing our event. The French Federation searched and found an alternative city to organize these inline hockey championships which is that of city of Colombes, located just outside the capitol city of Paris in a Northwest direction. The French Federation reports that it has achieved more success in just 15 days with getting firm commitments from the city of Colombes for the FIRS Inline Hockey Championships, than it did in one year and a half of negotiations with Grenoble.

Event Objective:

It is the objective of the City of Colombes, French Federation of Roller Skating, Inline Hockey French Committee, ?le de France Inline Hockey people, France Sports and France Sports International to host the 2005 FIRS World Inline Hockey Championships for both Men & Women simultaneously. Note the expansion of the women??s calendar, since it is anticipated that continued growth will occur in 2005.

Event Dates:

Men: Practice Days June 29, 30, 2005
Competition Dates: July 1- July 9, 2005

Women: Practice Days June 29, 30, 2005
Competition Dates: July 1- July 9, 2005
