Hey everyone, I'm new to the forum and new to the sport. I've gone through the product forum, but I'm going to post this question here. What do you all think are the best skates under $300 and gloves under $150? Thanks for the help.

For skates I'd go with Tour 962s (right at $300)or Tour 902s (between $200 AND $250). Gloves I'm not so sure about. I hear that the Mission Icon gloves are pretty good and since they are last years model they should be cheap. I've check epuck.com for the gloves, but you won't find any Tour skates on that site. Also check out hockeyoutlet.com

I'd definitely recommend the Tours. You might also be able to find some 950's from last year on closeout. Those are what I wear and they are great. You can also try www.hockeyone.com, www.hockeygiant.com, and www.hockeymonkey.com for Tours.

As far as gloves go, I've been very happy with my Eastons. They are so far the only glove ive purchased. Ive tried on some Missions and they have fit well, as well as being extremely comfortable. The next pair of gloves I purchase will probably by Hespeler...I tried a pair on at a local hockey store and fell in love...light, flexible, durable construction...they were just great.

Gloves are a very subjective piece of gear...what works well for one player may very well be hellish for another. Id recommend trying on gloves at a store before ordering the off the internet. That way you have an idea of what feels good to you, and dont have to go through the hassle of returning them.

For a good site in general, you cant beat epuck.com...they just plain rock!

Well I can only reply based on my own opinion. I've been using the Easton Z-Airs for the past 2 years and they are very nice. It is their higher-end glove. It retails for $129.99 usually. I plan on buying the 2001 model soon. I'm not familiar with the Mission/Tour skates. I'm a big fan of CCM skates. I've been using the 752 model for the last 4 yrs. I think they have the CCM 1052 roller hockey skate for under $300 now depending where you look. I myself plan on buying the new CCM 1152 ice skates and putting a chassis on them. Gee that should only run me about $700, eh? :)
