The following article describes the current status of roller hockey and the olympics. Please take the time to vote for roller sports as well. Every little bit of support helps.

What exactly does this poll help? Is it actually being used to help make a decision by the Olympic Committee? Or is this poll as useful as the XIHL poll asking what affiliation you are?

From what I understand it is what it is. Fox is conducting a poll to see what type of response inline sports would generate at the olympic level.

Currently Roller Sports leads golf 73% to 14% with the others trailing far behind...interesting..37,000+ votes. It's a good measure of how many inline hockey freaks are constantly surfing the net versus all the other sports...../wtimages/icons/smile.gif The inline underground is alive and well....and strikes again....

This response may not be directly from roller hockey enthusiasts. It includes several other categories so we cannot really say much about it's measure toward roller hockey (perhaps all 73% may be like downhill or one of the other three events). Another obvious problem would include that the only people who participate in this poll also visit the msn.com website. Therefore, this is only reached by people who have internet access and enjoy visiting msn.com. That doesn't really say much, if anything about what the nation really thinks.

I confess I really do not care if the other purviews of the Federation Internationale de Roller Sports make it to the olympics or not.

I care that inline hockey does.

I do not have anything against FIRS, except that it's United States affiliate, USA Roller Sports, has dropped inline hockey from it's operation. Prior to dropping the sport two years ago, USARS wasn't really running the program all that well to begin with.

The International Inline Hockey Federation is equally competent in their world championship program, and players around the world generally can play for either international body.

As long as we (The USA) get into the olympics, stuck with USARS at the helm, this is problematic...

I am almost to the point of suggesting that we actually wait til '16 or '20, in order to designate a national organization that can perform a quality operation in charge of the USA Olympic program.

I am not trying to get into a USAHIL vs. USARS/AAU debate on this thread, there have been and will yet be plenty of those...but...we're not ready to do this...not under the present circumstances.
